  • Lightweight, great for the one being carried AND the one carrying!
Color: Scout (Black)
Got this for a vacation trip where we were worried our (not so) little one would get tuckered out on hikes and long outings but wouldn't have a stroller available. (And we weren't keen on carrying him in our arms for long periods.) I was nervous about three things: 1) If he would even be willing to 'ride' on this at all 2) If it would be comfortable for us having him on there for any length of time 3) The price given #1 & #2 Turns out this was a huge hit for all of us. He wasn't just willing, he LOVED getting on our backs and standing up on the bar, he could see things from that vantage point but felt secure and comfortable and wasn't being constantly shifted between different positions and people carrying him. He did occasionally get excited and put his weight on one side or the other for a minute but it wasn't actually an issue shifting him back and he never felt like he would slip. With some adjustments (the harness has straps to tighten etc) it was fine carrying the weight (~40lbs in our case). You do feel the weight but not in ways that strain your body. We hiked in a forest and did a couple of miles on city streets and it was fine. And when done you're not aching once you take it off. Given how great it worked and that it's so portable and light to pack/carry the price is actually great value. Doesn't replace a stroller or wagon for long distances but fantastic for traveling or when you're going somewhere where those big carriages can't go. Definitely recommend it for kids getting too big for strollers but not going to survive long distances walking themselves the whole time. ... show more

  • 2 yr old loved it
Color: Scout W/ 6 Piece Accessory Bundle (Black)
Bought the piggyback for a vacation that was going to have narrow, crowded roads that were not stroller friendly. He loved it. The first thing he would do upon waking up was beeline to the harness and start putting it on, saying “daddy, horsey!” I put in many miles of urban walking with a 30 pounder and didn’t notice the extra weight (I am over 200 and in decent shape, my wife however won’t even try it). He could mount and dismount on his own. When we needed to take it off, it tucked into our little carry bag (so small). It hardly took space in our luggage. He could see everything, and loved using my ears as a steering wheel. In a 2 week vacation, we literally used the stroller only 3 times, and that was just in the first few days. Additional bonus was that others found us adorable (especially when playing horsey, or singing and dancing), which was way awesome in disarming aggressive street hawkers. In fact, it was like a reverse card, he would receive kisses and gifts. The only downside was when he got tired. He might have slept once on my back, but it was probably pretty uncomfortable for him. Mostly he stayed awake through the exhaustion. ... show more

  • Worked great for Disneyland
Color: SCOUT (Orange)
I packed my 5 year old 35lb daughter around Disneyland 3 days in a row. I would say it greatly increased the ground we covered. I knew I didn't want to travel with a stroller and this was my answer. I did have to remind her to not lock her knees, and after longer periods of being up there she would say that her feet hurt if she was not using the balls of her feet. On the third day disney security was hesitant to let me in as the bar on the bottom is basically a "lead pipe". After a few minutes they did let me take it in. My calves were burning pretty good, but definitely worth it. Whenever we were about to go on a ride we could easily stuff this thing into a backpack my wife was packing around. We did not use the child safety harness. That was our decision. Very good quality, very adjustable and easy to adjust. It seemed kind of expensive but in the end worth it. Very light weight. In one place it said max child weight was 60lbs another place it said 50lbs. I don't think I'll use it much over 50lbs. ... show more

  • Just OK... nothing to get excited about.
Color: Scout (Black)
We bought our Piggyback Rider two years ago when my daughter was nearly two because we spend a lot of time at theme parks and she was not interested in riding in a stroller. She will be four soon and we still use it occasionally but not nearly as much as I would have liked for the price. The Pros: -Rider is small & lightweight enough to fit in a diaper bag, keep in the car between uses, or wear without a kid in it. -It’s wonderful for things like parades and shows because it gets the kid up to adult height without blocking other people’s view the way it does when a kid sits on your shoulders. -It’s very easy to put on & take off if you have another adult with you, so it’s no big deal if the kid changes their mind about wanting up or down. -It is a lot faster to move through a large crowded area wearing this, than trying to get a toddler to focus on where you are walking. The Cons: -It is somewhat better than carrying a kid on your shoulders, but still pretty painful. I’m 5’3” and my husband is 5’11” and neither of us have ever been able to wear it more than an hour or so without a break. There just isn’t enough padding and weight distribution with this the way there is with a traditional baby carrier. -The bar slides down on one side and up on the other if the child shifts their weight, making it difficult to keep them balanced and occasionally putting a lot of pressure on the adult’s spine. -It still requires the child to stand during use so it is only a partial break for them while adding burden to the adult. -It’s quite challenging to put on without another adult around. Overall, I wouldn’t say that I regret this purchase but I’m also not raving about it to my friends. It’s one of those things that is handy to have around if you really have the extra money, but isn’t worth the splurge if things are tight financially. ... show more
