Description

Philips AVENT New Natural medium-flow nipples are designed to help babies feed from both the breast and the bottle. The nipple's wide shape is similar to the shape of a breast, and its soft, rounded nipple encourages the same peristaltic movements used to breastfeed. Twin anti-colic valves keep air in the bottle and out of babies' tummies, making feeding and digesting more comfortable and reducing colic. The nipple is made of soft, durable silicone and has a petal design that prevents it from collapsing while your baby feeds.

  • Great but DIFFERENT numbering system
Style: Newborn Flow
These are the new natural nipples and they are great and don’t spill. Baby must suck to get the milk like for the breast. But the numbering system is completely different from the original nipples. First flow (preemie) for the old nipples were 0s, and now they are 1s. Newborn slow flows were 1s and are now 2s, and so on. It was extremely confusing, and it took me finding an obscure comment on reddit to even find an explanation as to what was going on. Avent needs to do better all around. ... show more

  • Loves These
Style: Medium Flow
Priced well. Superb quality. Soft natural shape helped me feed my newborn when we had latch problems and my breastmilk flow was too much and too fast. Started my newborn on number 1 nipples. At 3 months, switched to number 2. At 5 months, switched to number 3 -- which is comparable to the flow of my breasts. So after 5 months of 100% bottle feeding, I put her back on the breast and she had no problems accepting it. Now she's on 50% breast and 50% bottle with no problems going back and forth. I use these with the Avent glass bottles and love the system. The glass washes up great, heats milk evenly and quickly when you place the bottle in a bowl of hot water (never overheats this way). Couldn't be happier with the Avent natural bottles and nipples. Another thing that people fail to consider that I would like to mention here is...you can buy Avent at your local drugstore, Target, Wallmart, BabiesRus...etc.This is so important because when you have emergencies and can't wait for Amazon to send a shipment there is that option. At first I wast contemplating Como Tomo which had excellent reviews online but decided against it because I've never seen those bottles at any of the stores I where I shop and I'm in a big city (Los Angeles). Anyway, I'm so glad I chose Avent and would highly recommend and use the same bottles for my next baby. ... show more

  • Don't leave sitting in water - see pictures
Style: Newborn Flow
My daughter took these easily after she didn't like the Tommee Tippee Back to Nature ones. They haven't leaked and they clean easily. We breastfeed so I specifically wanted the size 1 nipples, but all the bottles come with size 2, which is a pain, but at least they're not too expensive. Be careful, though, because the tiny number on them that tells you which size is which is very hard to read. My daughter has no trouble going between breasfeeding and these nipples. Word of warning: I tend to wash everything in soapy water and then sanitize. The other night I was exhausted and forgot that I'd put the bottles and pump parts in soapy water and went to bed. The next morning all the parts were fine except for the nipples. The silicone has turned cloudy and it's not a residue that will come off (with scrubbing or sanitizing). I called the Avent product support line and the lady just told me I shouldn't leave them in water overnight. Their packaging says nothing about that, though. She said if they were sanitized then they were safe to use, but I said without an explanation of what happened and why (which she couldn't give), I didn't feel safe giving them to my daughter. So, I'm replacing them, just to be safe, but wanted to warn others. See pictures ... show more

  • Best Nipples on the Market
Style: Fast Flow
I believe these bottles and replacement nipples are a must. Tough enough in my opinion.

  • Great nipples!
Style: Newborn Flow
My son, like most babies, uses a bottle from time to time! As new parents, we got all different sizes of nipples assuming that he would start at the newborn size and work his way up, newborn, then size 1 then size 2 etc etc. However, that is not the case.. Our son born october started with a size 1. Any other size he would spit out or sound like he was choking from the milk shooting into the back of his throat. 6 months later, he is still using.. size 1. The doctor states that whatever size they are comfortable with is the size they will stick with. It was explained that the ducts on mom's nipple dont get any bigger so why should the nipples you put on a bottle. Made sense to us. Now these nipples, we've tried a few different brands and these Avent ones were the ones that our son decided on. Had nothing to do with the fact that we liked them. We got various nipples and bottles and used the ones he didnt spit up as much with, and immediately latched on. for the dads out there that will need to feed while the breastfeeding mom is at work or sleeping, make sure you take the time to find a nipple/bottle that works! I would have my son write this review as he uses these nipples frequently but I fear for the life of my keyboard as he likes sucking on these nipples.... and everything else! ... show more

  • Flow size should be clearly stated in description.
Style: Newborn Flow
Imagine this: you come home from a hard day at work to see you Amazon package has arrived. Those extra nipples you need are here so that you can stop washing bottles after every feeding. You open them up right away, wash them, and put them on your bottles to replace the faster flow nipple they originally came with. Fast Forward to 3 am. Your baby has just eaten 4 ounces in one sitting! You're ready to go back to bed... SPLAT! Projectile vomit all over you, the couch, and the carpet. You can't imagine what went wrong, so you think your 1 month old baby is sick. You reduce feeding amounts, and it seems to work half the time. You now have to feed baby every hour to keep food in his/her belly. Suddenly, as you use your tears to hand wash all the little bottle and breast pump pieces, you see water shoot out of the tip of the nipple you are scrubbing with the brush bottle. You look at the size on it and see it is a size 1... not a size 0. As soon as I stopped using the size 1, the projectile vomiting stopped. So that was my mistake. The "Natural Newborn Flow" is SIZE 1, not size 0. I could not find this in any of the product's descriptions, but now going back and looking, it is in one of the pictures. We do generally like the AVENT bottles, but I'm pretty mad at myself for buying two packs of these nipples that we'll never use. All of our 4 ounce bottles came with size 1, so we had already replaced several of them and now they all sit together in a zip-lock bag in storage. ... show more
