Description

The Philips Avent 4-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer SCF286/05 uses natural steam to remove 99.9% of external particles in just 6 minutes. Before sterilizing, wash items in warm, soapy water or the dishwasher. When they're clean, place them in the sterilizer. Fill the sterilizer basin with 100ml of water. Plug the sterilizer in to any standard electrical outlet and switch on. The sterilizing cycle will run for 6 minutes and then the sterilizer will automatically shut off for energy savings and safety. The 4-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer has an adjustable modular design. This gives you the option of using a small configuration for things like pacifiers, a medium configuration for breast pumps, toddler plates and utensils, or a large configuration for up to 6 Philips Avent bottles of any size. The sterilizer can be neatly tucked away on a countertop because it takes up minimal space in your kitchen. It also comes with an integrated dishwasher basket so you can pre-clean items hassle-free before sterilizing them. If the lid is unopened, contents will remain sterile and ready for their next use for up to 24 hours. The Philips Avent 4-in-1 Electric Steam Sterilizer is backed by a 2-year warranty.

  • Unsafe for baby

Mines didn't melt, rust, or stopped working like the other reviews. Instead, there's always little specks of white stuff coming from the sides of the metal plates. Sometimes, I even find them on the flanges and bottles. It's scary to think that my baby drank some of stuff without me knowing because it's so tiny. The manual says to descale it 1-2 times a week and that's what I did. Eventually it got so bad that when I shook the base, it was an endless amount of white specks coming out like snow. I called Avent and they sent me a new one and told me to descale it more often. It's not working and I still see white specks floating around in it when I fill the base with water. It takes me longer to clean the base (and no matter how many times I rinse it, I always see white specks) than the bottles and pumping accessories. We don't have time for that! ... show more

  • does the job with a few minor issues

This bottle sterilizing machine will save you a lot of time vs the old fashioned methods of sterilizing. You just load up the machine with your baby bottles and other baby stuff, add some water and hit the button and a short while later it will be done. One thing to note is that this machine does not dry the bottles off. You will need to take them out of the machine and put them out to dry on a baby bottle rack. My friends got a machine that also does drying and if I had to buy again I would probably go for a machine that also dries the bottles out. Other thing to note is that the heating element will eventually rust/get caked with stuff and this will cause the machine to die at some point. We always used reverse osmosis purified water in our machine so that probably prolonged the life quite a bit but it did eventually give out. Anyways, we used this daily for at least 2+ years so I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Complete garbage, two units dead in 1.5 weeks
Style: Premium
Two units dead within a total of 1.5 weeks (one from Amazon, and a replacement direct from Philips). First unit received from Amazon: went through the initial setup as per the manual, loaded unit to sterilize bottles for the first time, and would not turn on (called Philips to troubleshoot and everything, to no avail). Amazon would not process a return or replacement for this item - not sure if that was unique to our purchase, or if this is true for all purchases of this product via Amazon. So, we called Philips directly and they sent a replacement unit, which arrived after 4 days. New unit ran fine for one week, and this evening went the same way as the first unit (will not turn on at all). Complete piece of garbage even ignoring the high price point, broken the same way on two different units within the space of two weeks, and we were using it "lightly" (only ran the second unit 3 times, the first unit died before we ran it once). Would have requested a refund through Amazon after the first dud if we were given that option. ... show more

  • Sterilizes but doesn’t dry!
Style: Premium
We purchased this as a solution for sterilizing our Como toumo bottles. We didn’t want to have to run our dish washer every time we wanted a bottle clean. Also, the dish washer detergent was scented and caused our silicone bottles to smell. Our new system was to hand wash with scentless dish soap and then place in sterilizer. Then run the sterilizer when full. The sterilizer has worked well for this purpose. It has a relatively small counter top profile wish is nice. However, it does not dry the bottles thus the sterilized bottle sit wet waiting for use. I was not aware that sterilizers would leave the bottles so wet and that there were other options that both sterilized and dried. We will be purchasing a model that does both as leaving the bottles wet in the machine does not seem sanitary. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 3 weeks..

Product was working fine and then stopped working after 3 weeks of use. It literally didn’t turn on one day. I’m very upset and I am no longer able to return it to Amazon.

  • Horrible
Style: Premium
I purchased this for myself. Shortly after the 1st use this product had a mind of its own. It would never turn off on its own like it’s supposed to, the burning smell would send me running into the kitchen. Less than a month of having this product it never turned on again. What a waste of money. Sad part I couldn’t return it to Amazon because I had it for more than 30 days. Right now I am boiling water on the stove top to sterilize my baby’s bottles. Stay away from this product ... show more

  • LOVE IT!!!!
Style: Premium
With my first child I sterilzed by the old method of boiling water in a pot! Which as you know can be VERY time consuming, especially if you have a lot to sterilize! I am very happy with this product! It is simple and fast! There are two levels to this sterilizer. The bottom level is open and can fit large & tall items (bigger than 9oz bottles), the top level is open and fits smaller things like nipples, bottle toppers, pumping shields...The two levels are interchangable. If you have a small load, use the small container. If you have a large load use the larger one or both of them. I use distilled water so I dont have to de-scale all the time. I sterilize everything from my breast pumping equipment, bottles, straws, cups, pacifiers...EVERYTHING! I have not found one thing wrong with it. I wish I would have had this with my first kiddo! I will keep this around until I am done having kids! ... show more

  • It works great, but it would have been helpful to know ...
Style: Premium
We use this once or twice a day for bottles, pump equipment, pacifiers, etc. It works great, but it would have been helpful to know that you have to dry it out almost right away after use or the bottom plate (where you put the water) will rust. We now put the bottles and such on a drying rack almost as soon as the green light goes off and dry out the bottom and have not had much additional rust spotting. ... show more
