  • 5 Dermatologists Could Not Help Me. This Soap Did.
I rarely, if ever, write reviews. I'm a 56-year-old male who basically had beautiful skin all through my 20s, 30s, and most of my 40s. In my late 40s, I started to notice red welts on my face and on parts of my neck. I thought they were rosacea, as I had battled that for quite a while (as it's chronic, as most are aware). These welts, or blotches, we're not whiteheads; they were red and protruded slightly. And they occasionally itched, although not always. But when they *did* itch, the itching was unbearable, and this led to scratching (especially in the wee hours of the night). Scratching one's face, of course, is never a good thing. I was miserable. I tried everything: antibiotics, topicals (too many to name), different soaps, etc. I bounced back and forth from a traditional razor blade to an electric razor. Nothing worked. A few months ago, a friend, who happened to be a dermatologist (and one of the original five who'd tried, but was unable, to help me find a cure) suggested Acnomel, a topical to be used only in spots (and not slathered all over an entire area indiscriminately). It helped, but I needed more; this was a reactive remedy. I needed something preventive to pair with the Acnomel. Via my own research, I came upon reviews for The Yellow Bird Peppermint Tea Tree Soap. I bought one bar. I was hopeful, but not too much so as I'd been disappointed many times before. I tried the soap when it arrived, and immediately felt a freshness on my face I'd never felt before. This was still not convincing, because several other remedies had worked briefly in the past, only to flame out as the welts (which, I failed to mention, were finally unanimously diagnosed as folliculitis) would return in 2-3 weeks. But something was different this time. My skin cleared up. I rarely needed the Acnomel. And not only did my skin clear up, but it looked radiant, healthy, and totally natural. I am not a sun worshipper so when my skin is healthy, it looks like a 20-year-old's. I was back to my old self. And with almost two months having passed, that's a fair amount of time to be able to say with confidence that this soap is the primary reason why I have *finally* defeated folliculitis. Of course, I must stay at it because it can always return, so I have purchased ten additional bars, and will keep purchasing more. I am astonished at my results. No professional was able to help (all were wonderful doctors, really nice people, and individuals who really cared and wanted to help me in the worst way!). But in the end, it's this soap that has changed my life. Literally changed my life! I feel and look great. Highly, highly recommended!!! ... show more

  • Loved it
I have a skin condition called Hidradenitis Suppurativa and I got the peppermint and tea tree soap to see if it would help any and it did help with the itching although I still get the same amount of lumps that I got before. Regardless, I quite liked the bar and I was always a liquid body wash user before I gave this stuff a try. There where no issues with longevity for me as I quartered the bar when I got it and only used one cube at a time with a loofah and stored it on a draining soap dish in a dry area of the shower. I am on the last bit now and it's been two months since I got it. It smells great and my skin is super soft and I will definitely use again ... show more

  • Had low expectations, was proved wrong
This soap calms and soothes my problem skin without aggravating my multiple skin issues. I'm woman in my 40's and have always had freakishly sensitive, very fair, oily skin. As well as PCOS, which also means random hormonal changes to skin, like blemishes and some facial hair growth, which I'm now getting treated, so added need for gentle cleansing. And middle age brought with it new dry skin around mouth and eyes. Yay. Everyone's skin is different and there's no miracle product. I gave this 5 stars because it makes my face feel very clean and breathable without drying it, making it feel itchy, or leaving residue. It doesn't even irritate my eyelids. Note that it won't remove mascara. I use pure apricot kernel oil for that anyway--and not because I'm woo woo organic woman. My eyelids react badly to pretty much every commercially made eye makeup remover except Clinique. Look up how much 16oz of NOW apricot oil costs on Amazon. Easy math. This is too long, but have to say something about the soap's longevity vs cost. This isn't practical to use at the gym or even at home when I'm in a rush. When the bar came, I cut into two facial size bars. I use it only before bed. I remove eye makeup first, then rinse my face. I wet only one side of the bar and rub it lightly over my face and neck. I set the bar down on a dry washcloth. I massage my face to lather, then wash and rinse. I pat dry face, dry my hands then pat bar dry then store it on a DRY soap dish. When used that way, daily use of this soap is definitely not more expensive than what I'd normally use. Walk down the skin care aisle of the drugstore and price every sensitive skin face wash. Don't bother going to dept store beauty counter, Ulta, Sephora, just double or triple the drug store prices. Now does $10 all natural soap that lasts a month seem exorbitant? ... show more

  • It is a very good soap other than that
First of all I didn't need a $10 bar of soap but after reading reviews thought it was a luxury worth trying especially if it moisturized. It does do that but where it misses is size and lubricity. Even wet it would stick to my skin. And it evaporates quickly. I'd say it was small enough that it will only last the week. It is a very good soap other than that. 5 stars for smell 2 for size/evaporation 2 for lubricity 1 for value even though it was a luxury purchase 5 for that fresh clean feeling after. Average 3 If this was $4-5 per bar I would probably keep buying it unfortunately it is not. ... show more
