This is a great heater - such a huge improvement over our 'old' one and incredibly awesome to have it delivered for install by our pool guy. It does require a regulator after all so plan on that up front, and if your gas line isn't 1 1/2" you'll have to replace that as well with a possible gas meter upgrade, too ... partially due to 400,000 btus but mostly (in our case) code requirements and simple upgrading to "present" standards.     • Save your $$$, unit stopped working after just 7 weeks and I was given every excuse on why they cant cover the warranty !
Bought this unit and used it for 6 weeks then it stopped working. I reached out to Pentair which took weeks for them to respond and over 13 hours on the phone! I also contacted "In the Swim" who this unit was being sold by here on amazon. Both companies have found every excuse not to cover this unit under the 2 year warranty. I was told it must not have been winterized correctly which was proven wrong, two different inspectors came out to look at the unit on two different occasions, both told me the company looks for every excuse not to cover it under their warranty and told me that the unit was defective. The first excuse I was given they stated it wasn't winterized properly which they were proven wrong then they were claiming the unit was damaged from chlorine. Chlorine is used in every pool so how could that be any type of excuse? The end result is Pentair does not stand behind their pool heater products and nor does this company 'In the swim" who is selling here on Amazon so my advice would be stay away from both companies and save yourself the aggravation I have been through for the past month. I dished out over $2000 for a unit that only worked for 7 weeks, not to mention the price for the install. I am totally disappointed in the way this was handled by Pentair and the ignorance of some of their staff. ... show more

Everything was fine with the exception of the schematic of the jumper for the remote heater control.

Extremely disappointing. Paying almost 3K the heater arrived broken in pieces along the bottom as you can see in photos. There was no way for me to fix it, as you can see from photos it was broken in pieces. No word from customer service or Pentair as of today, i wrote three weeks ago Unlike some others I have read reviews of mine did not come by UPS but a private truck company who dropped it offer way at the end of a long driveway. He could have easily drove down the driveway to put closer to the house but told me he was too busy. Even know it was not UPS it seems the packaging is bad no matter who delivers. If you do order, open and inspect while the delivery driver is there. It has been a nightmare to get any kind of support. ... show more

    • Replacement Pool Heater
I bought this as a replacement heater for our in-ground pool. It is smaller than the unit it replaced with the same BTU's. There was no problem with the installation and the unit performed well. I should also mention that the unit was well packed and delivered timely.

Worked great after we got the propane gas flow correct. Obviously more efficient than my previous propane pool heater. I saved $1400 ordering it myself and having it installed.

    • DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON
Heater arrived in 4 or 5 days box looked fine took out of box. Plastic heater housing that holds all the removable side panels broken, returned, ordered a new one. This heater is not packaged to be shipped by UPS it flops around when moved and dropped, it's too heavy and large for one person to load or move. Returned ordered new one. To make a long store short four months and four heaters later I have a heater in my pool and it works. It looks like crap, I asked Amazon if Pentair could send new plastic to me after the 3rd one arrived broken, they sent local pool guy 90 miles away took a month he brought used plastic from old heater looked like it was drug across drive way to load. He turned it on said, there you go its working and drove away, it deflated and shut down. Pool guy told me call Amazon Pentair, not coming back to fix it. Called Amazon, the 4th heater comes broken also, put the old plastic, from the pool guy on it , and this one does work. Pentair should not be selling this heater on Amazon if there not going to package it well enough to be rolled and dropped by shipping people!!!!!! To Big and to Heavy for one person. My recommendation is call to a local pool guy, pay extra, save time and a piece of your mind, don't let a week job turn in to 4 months. Do not order heater from Amazon. ... show more
