I used this down at the OBX, North Carolina and paired it with a 4500 series Daiwa BG. I didn’t catch anything big as you can see, but using a 3 ounce weight on a bottom rig and a fish finder rig I was easily able to cast out and catch some fish.     • Great fishing rod for the price
I first purchased this back in November 2015. The rod performed great overall and I was very satisfied with it. One shortcoming of 2 piece rods are that they come apart after a number of casts. therefore, you need to e mindful of that otherwise the top piece may go flying on a cast. However November 2018 my rod broke right below the point the 2 pieces meet which rendered my rod unusable for the reat of my fishing trip. It would seem the constant assembling and tightening/resitting of the 2 pieces wore out the bottom piece and that caused it to weaken then eventually break. Other than then above, I would recommend this rod to anyone who wants a great reliable rod. For the record, I bought another 2 of these rods. Keep in mind all my fishing is saltwater. ... show more

11’ Med/Heavy: Great, sturdy surf rod. Two things I found slightly misleading when buying was the butt of the handle is way longer than the picture advertised (it’s about 3’ for the handle alone). Also, the weight of the rod description said 15lb-30lb but that’s for monoline. It has a 20lb-50lb rating for braided line. This means the rod was a bit more heavy duty than anticipated. It’s got a great grip and the bell of the butt has a nice feature by listing the stats on it. It handles well and gets the job done, I was just looking for something a bit lighter than what I got. Paired it with a Penn Battle II 4000, which is a phenomenal reel. All in all, good rod, that can take on a lot more than just perch. ... show more

Only sent one of two pieces. A two piece fishing rod only works with both pieces. I know it’s a very good surf rod. But you really need both pieces.

I was looking forward to my new Penn Battalion 2 10' surf fishing rod, but was shocked at finding only the bottom section of rod. What a disappointment. I'll get from elsewhere. Totally Bummed
