I purchased for an 05 BMW 530i E60 with a stock 6.5" ccc idrive infotainment system (no aux or Navigation just am/fm, CD and phone Bluetooth), I desperately wanted to add Navigation and the ability to listen to satellite radio and my music apps. I researched options for months. I came across this PEMP android unit and it offered everything I was looking for. The install wasn't too bad. Had to make some option adjustments to get the sound right. Volume adjustments could be better... when getting a phone call and using Bluetooth or mobile Hotspot you cannot adjust during a call while driving so if the volume is too loud you have to go to the settings in order to adjust I found a comfortable setting but I would have liked to be able to adjust the volumethroughthe steering wheel controls. I installed the PEMP aux mod first then installed the unit. I also added the PEMP highest resolution backup camera. It all came together and ultimately did what I expected it to do. It wasn't cheap but a great upgraded addition to the old CCC idrive system that still allows original communication features. It's basically an android tablet so you can add apps, stream movies, use Navigation, ect. It looks like it came stock and makes the interior appearance look 10+ years newer. Will need some kind of screen protector/anti glare cover if putting on a movie for passengers. I am happy with it overall. This deserves solid consideration if you are like me trying to update the entertainment unit in my older BMW commuter vehicle. Also would like to mention the camera connector did not fit like the other connectors (the only connector was not an exact fit). I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and offered a small credit to the inconvenience of having to re-wire the connection. It wasn't about what they were going to give me or do for me it was fact they responded quickly and were willing to try and work with me to make me a satisfied customer and honestly that's all we want as consumers. I took a gamble because there weren't a lot of reviews from customers who purchased. Decent quality of the products, good communication from Seller, and everything arrived when it was supposed to. Before purchasing the Linux, I read most of the reviews. I read reviews about incorrect fit not very good installation instructions. I ordered the Pemp E60 aux. The instructions were spot on perfect. Then I ordered the Linux radio. It was 239.00 on Black Friday deals. I followed the directions. They were also spot on. This company is amazing. Tech help is thru email, and they respond 24/7. I fell in love with my 2006 650i all over again. My idrive works perfectly, my steering controls work perfectly. Bluetooth CarPlay , and you can hit the menu button to go back to oem.     • Blue tooth mic doesn’t work well at all

Works fine as described however built in mic for phone calls totally sucks even after speaking with rep , also most times the radio does not stay in aux mode after disconnecting. A little annoying, please pay attention to the part where you must buy there aux program tool and rear view sold separately ... show more

Installation is fairly easy, if you're familiar with car audio. The hardest part is getting the harness tucked away. This is easier to do if you remove the bracket and cut part of the left side out. Another tip is to zip tie the green/black optical cable to the rest of the wire harness so it doesn't become disconnected. It is supposed to clip into the harness but it does not. Very happy with how fast the Linux OS loads. Much faster than Android OS units. Android Auto loads easily once set up. ... show more

    • Great product but Bluetooth hardly connects

Beautiful graphics. Too much wires. Very hard to get head unit back in place. My I drive for the ccc does not work at all. I have been able to connect via Bluetooth 3 times in the 2 months I have had it. All 3 times it disconnected and would not reconnect to Bluetooth. No manual for apps or extra accessories. The instructions suck. Good product but can’t work the features without a manual. And of course I would like to know why although it has a wire that is identified for the I drive, it does not say or show where the wire is to be connected too. It’s been a very aggravating process ... show more

This is a very nice upgrade for the E60 model. The screen fits exactly into the OEM location and the wiring is pretty straight forward. It uses an inline harness adapter which plugs into your existing plug on the back of the radio. The only word of caution I can mention was during installation, when I hooked up the screen to the harness, my CCC unit started clicking rapidly like it was trying to find the correct video sync signal. After trial and error of changing the settings to the correct screen format, the Linux display would show my OEM idrive correctly, but somehow my CCC GPU was damaged in the process so it no longer outputs green on the display. This didn't affect the Linux portion for carplay at all though, only the idrive display. Initially my sound quality was very distorted but after contacting customer support on WhatsApp, they quickly sent over an updated wiring diagram which showed I had to connect some grounds together on the radio. The representative I chatted with on WhatsApp was extremely professional and patient and provided excellent assistance. This was also on a Sunday too! Overall, I'm happy with the functionality of the carplay. It works like any other carplay I'm familiar with. I had to disconnect my Bluetooth connection with the car and only connected to the PEMP Bluetooth in order to keep the music playing when switching to the idrive screen. Also remember to have the wifi connected to the radio as that's required for wireless carplay use. When I turn on the car, the display comes on almost instantly with less than 10 seconds of boot time, the it automatically switches to carplay. Very convenient and hands free. ... show more
