  • Fantastic as luggage or airline transport.
Color: Black
This review is for the black Pelican Air 1615 case with no foam. I have owned at least 50 Pelican cases. This case retains all the traditional Pelican case attributes- strength, durability, lifetime guarantee; but at much less weight than their former methods of construction. The airline baggage handlers have had this case on 27 USA domestic flights so far, totaling 43,500 miles, plus 4 international flights of 10,000 miles with just minor scuffs to the case, and with no damage to the contents. (I recently gave this case to a friend who often travels domestically for work, he recently told me he put another 80,000 - 100,000 domestic air miles on this case in about 6 months and it's holding up just fine.) In this product Pelican has achieved the perfect balance between cutting weight and yet retaining strength and content protection. Also, the case pulls very easily when loaded to 50 pounds total weight. USAGE TIP#1: I recommend placing a paper towel soaked in WD-40 over old baggage stickers on this case to remove the old stickers and adhesive residue. Let it soak overnight, then remove the label using an old credit card or cheap plastic scraper from a hardware/paint supply store. USAGE TIP#2: Also I take the Pelican stickers off my cases used for airline transport, whether for domestic or international travel. I believe this reduces the odds of theft or pilferage of the case by thieves looking for high dollar electronics or other valuables.(I then tape the Pelican sticker that lists the model of the case to the inside lid of the case, which then gives me a simple reminder of the model number of that particular case.) USAGE TIP#3 Finally, I only buy black Pelican cases for airline transport because I want each case to blend in as much as possible with other airline luggage. This is my informal "gray man" approach to airline luggage. For example, I have an upcoming civilian tourist trip planned to the Middle East and possibly also to Africa. I would never take a desert tan or olive green pelican case on such a trip, as it could instantly visually mark me and the case for increased scrutiny, and as a target for luggage theft, physical harassment, or attack. Consequently, I will simply take my black Pelican cases with the outside Pelican labels removed on that trip. I anticipate no problems with my luggage, or because of my luggage, using these simple precautions. ... show more

  • MASSIVE space
Color: Red
Super strong and everything fits in one case. However it tends to show more rough handling scars than other cases. If safety and fit of items are you main concerns this is the box.

  • Awesome sturdy suitcase
Color: Red
A bit heavy and chunky, but everything inside seems to be 100% secure, after a couple of airport trips it still in very good shape, can be a bit hard to move with it when loaded to max and is in the heavy side compare to other suitcase but is a compromise to get a more secure suitcase, not only considering impacts but also avoiding unwanted hands to get inside ... show more

  • Airline proof! Looks great, lots of features.
Color: Blue
After looking at a lot of rolling suit cases, including some upwards of $1500, this was the only one I knew would stand up to the abuse airlines will put luggage through. I’ve seen Pelicans get run over by trucks and not miss a beat. One trip down with this case reaffirmed it. The quality is typical Pelican - nothing but rugged and utilitarian. It’s got locks built into the latches, several interior folder pockets on the inside of the lid, I can’t imagine the wheels ever breaking but if they do, they come off as a unit for easy replacement, the long drag handle stows tight and secure, the lid has steel reinforced grommets for a more serious lock should you require it - all for a fraction of luxury suitcases that would surely fail well before this one ever will. The only downside is the weight - it’s pretty hefty so you hit 40lbs pretty quick filling it up. ... show more

  • Modern take of the classic Pelican Case
Color: Blue
This case is an absolute unit perfect for travel with the TSA locks. I removed a star as my case did not come with the packing cubes. I reached out to Amazon and Pelican, and they could not assist in returning it to get another unit isn't worth the hassle, mainly due to the size and large box. Hope this isn't the beginning of Pelican's decline! ... show more

  • Great value, holds up over time
Color: Orange
Used this for three years now averaging every other week air travel. I added the lid organizer. Enough space for clothes, computer, documentation, some tools. I've shipped this via fedex and ups, and it gets tossed around by airlines, with no visible signs of damage other than scrapes and scratches. Gets tossed into the bed of pickups and tied to the roof on occasion, never had a leak or any damage. Probably the best investment in travel gear I've ever made. On top of that, I get constant compliments on it. ... show more

  • Worth every cent
Color: Orange
Some of best money Iv ever spent. I travel for work in construction type field and this things a must have. Sometimes there's not room inside for luggage and crew so it ends up in back of the truck. Rain, snow, mud, and dirt. No worries about your stuff getting wet. Large enough to hold a months worth of clothes, but small enough to move around easily. Also looks very cool and gets tons of compliments. ... show more
