  • A Paddle to Grow With
Color: Power Series
As someone who is relatively new to pickleball, I did extensive research before making my first purchase of a paddle above entry level. I play regularly in a variety of contexts (i.e. casually with friends/family, drop-in play at local courts, and competitively in a league) and needed a paddle that would be forgiving enough for someone still growing in skill but capable enough to execute the shots of someone who has experience in racket/paddle sports (tennis and ping pong). After poring over countless articles, videos, and other resources, I kept finding PCKL brand popping up with glowing reviews. After looking into the brand further, I settled on their paddles. I ended up choosing the Power Series because I thought it would be an easier transition from ping pong due its light weight, 10mm thickness (thinness?), and its unparalleled aptitude for applying spin to the ball compared to any other paddle at its price point. After using it consistently for a couple months, I can confidently provide the following feedback: Cons: -There are, expectedly, noticeable deadspots around the edge of the paddle. But, you'd be hard-pressed to find any paddle that didn't suffer from the same issue in the entry to intermediate class. -As others have noted, the handle grip can get a bit slick from sweat, but I didn't find that it greatly impacted my play. In fact, I enjoy the corded grip. -The handle likely isn't long enough for those who consistently employ a two-handed backhand (as many tennis players utilize). -It is THIN. Some players may miss having the traditional "poppy" feel of a thicker core paddle. However, I actually found this to be a positive (see below). -Dings on the edge do show, but mine are mostly scrapes that don't affect the play of the paddle. I've considered using edge tape to protect it, but it's a part of using an edgeless paddle. Pros: -This paddle is light, quick, and snappy through the air. It feels unlike almost any other paddle I've used that isn't 3x the cost. I've seen one reviewer liken it to an oversized ping pong paddle, and this may not be too inaccurate. But, this is one of the reasons I enjoy this paddle. The Power Series also plays very well in faster pace volleys in the kitchen because of its lightweight, snappy design. -It's responsive. You get immediate feedback from every hit due to its thinness and light weight. Because of that, I feel as if it's really helped improve my game since there is no question as to when I either miss-hit or center it in the sweet spot. I also feel as if I'm able to control the ball a bit better due to the increased feeling, but this could simply be preference. -The face of this paddle has some serious grit. If you're into applying spin to the ball, and you don't want to spend over twice as much on a paddle, then this is the paddle for you. Everyone that tries my paddle is shocked by how much spin they can put on the ball compared to their own. However, not everyone likes or can control utilizing this much spin, especially if you aren't a 4.0 or better player. And, I haven't detected a noticeable wearing down of the grit after couple months of use. -As the name implies, this paddle can pack a punch... IF you're in the sweet spot. If you hit it around the edges there is noticeable power loss, but this is where the increased responsiveness and quickness of the paddle helps. The air speed of the paddle can make up for not landing a solid hit by still being able to put pace on the ball. -As for control, I've been able to place dink's well and consistently hit for depth when I want. However, there isn't a tremendous amount of forgiveness for mishits with this paddle. Yet, again, I don't deem this a negative because it provides me instant feedback and forces me to adapt in order to hit the ball more consistently. Overall, I'm very pleased with this paddle and will certainly give a long look to PCKL's newer Pro Series thermoformed paddles when I'm ready for the upgrade! ... show more

  • Great paddle
Color: Power Series
This paddle is much lighter than my old one but delivers more power and better spin. I also love the edgeless design. No more errant shots off the rim.

  • Great paddle but surface durability
Color: White Pro Series
Great paddle. It was a light paddle which means less chance of tennis elbow. Still had to return it as within 2 weeks there were lot of scratches and did not seem like paddle surface will be durable.

  • Love this paddle!
Color: Power Series
I came from a tennis background, so I hit with a lot of spins. Our first pickleball paddle set was from JP Winlook. It wasn’t bad, but a good number of my spins were not biting and the ball would just fall short. I also didn’t like that it had an edge guard, which would sometimes cause miss hits. I also didn’t want to spend $150 upwards to get a gearbox or a selkirk, just to get a good edgeless paddle. Thank goodness for the Men’s Health article and another one that said PCKL has a great paddle for folks that are intermediate level who want a rough grit surface and at the same time an edgeless paddle. Perfect fit for me. Love the handle with the corded grip, it is very light on the hand, the sweet spot is great, and the gritty surface really catches the ball and creates the spins. There are still a few instances where it doesn’t catch the ball completely for the spin, but they are greatly reduced. And I love the fact that I didn’t get any miss hits from the ball hitting near the edge when I do a slice or a side/top/back spin. Can’t wait to play with it more and get more used to it. Great paddle, PCKL! ... show more

  • Great looking paddle, but ultimately not for me
Color: White Pro Series
It was not the paddle for me. It just lacked the pop I was used to (coming from a gamma compass). I guess it strongly leans toward a ‘control’ paddle. It performed well on dinks and drops, but on a drive it seemed like I could never find the sweet spot. I returned it.

  • Love this racquet
Color: Power Series
I bought this racquet after trying out my friend's racquet. I really like it! It has a great gripping handle, is lightweight and is pretty powerful. I would recommend it for intermediate players as well as beginners. I like that it is frameless. Would definitely recommend this racquet. If you buy it, don't forget to take the plastic wrap off from around the handle. ... show more

  • Great paddle!
Color: White Pro Series
Great control and reach especially if you are transitioning from tennis to pickleball. The handle is short but the paddle face compensates for.that with control and just enough pop to get the ball back fast. The thinner build makes it perfect for fast hand movements and easy dinking at the kitchen. The grit on paddle face allows for some good topspin. ... show more
