These straps are made of thick rubber. The strap is adjustable. Works good for my 8 month old Standard Poodle puppy. Others would not adjust short enough to keep her from falling off the back seat. I bought this to replace a nylon belt that came with my small dog's car seat, because she chewed through the original. I can't attach this new belt to the headrest as the directions say, because the dog is too short. Instead, the shoulder belt threads through the loop, and the clip attaches to her harness. In this way, the belt works anywhere in the car, with or without a doggie seat. It allows my 16 lb chi-mix mutt to either sit, lie down, or stand on her own seat, but she can't jump on my lap or sniff around the car and get into trouble. This belt seems sturdily made of rubber or vinyl, and she hasn't tried to chew on it yet. ... show more
