Description

PanaVise is a major manufacture of Vises and Work Holding Tools. Introducing the Panavise 209 VACUUM BASE PV JR., the most PORTABLE precision vise you'll ever own! Ideal for light-duty field repairs, electronics, hobbies and more! Attaches securely to any smooth, flat, non-porous surface. Features an easy-to-use single knob which, controls head movement through 3-planes: 210 Degree Tilt, 360 Turn and 360 Rotation. Fine/coarse adjusting knob controls jaw pressure for delicate work. Grooved jaws are excellent for holding small objects and are made of reinforced thermal composite plastic continuous heat tolerance to 350 F (177 C), intermittent heat up to 450 F (204 C). Jaws are 2" (50.8mm) tall, 1" (25.4mm) wide, and open to 2.875" (73mm). Arm movement is 140; positive indents control movement to prevent flopping and the control knob locks the arm firmly into place. Lever locks vacuum pad into place on any smooth, flat, non-porous surface; lift tab to release vise from surface. Base Diameter: 3.4" (86.4mm), Height: 7.5" (173mm), Weight: 0.8 lbs. (0.4kg). From the Manufacturer The PanaVise 209 vacuum base Pv Jr. is a portable work- holding tool attaches to smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces, and adjusts to a wide range of positions. The PanaVise 209 vacuum base PV Jr. is designed for light-duty uses such as field repairs, electronics, and hobbies. It has a rubber base and lever combination at its surface contact, and features tilt adjustment up to 210-degrees, along with 360-degree turns and rotations, fine and coarse clamping abilities, grooved jaws for easy holding power, and heat- tolerant jaws. Vacuum-powered portability for light-duty work-holding jobs. View larger.Light Duty, Vacuum Powered Portability The PanaVise 209 vacuum base PV Jr. is a one-piece work-holding tool with specialized elements at its base and head. The rubber base is 3-3/8" (86.4 mm) wide, with an integrated lever along its upper edge. A downward flip of the lever lifts the inner center of the base up when against a nonporous surface, creating a vacuum action powerful enough to secure the holding tool and the item secured within its jaws. The unit can be used on horizontal or vertical planes, and a dual adjustment mechanism on the vise head allows for both coarse and fine adjustments. The holding power of the jaws can be softened with an optional padded accessory for holding extremely delicate items (sold separately). The head element of the PanaVise 209 vacuum base PV Jr. has jaws composed of reinforced thermal composite plastic that are 2" (50.8 mm) tall x 1" (25.4 mm) wide, and open to 2-7/8" (73 mm). The grooves along the jaws' inner edges are designed for dependable holding power of all kinds of items. Because vise applications such as circuit board wiring and jewelry making- involve soldering, the vise head assembly of the PanaVise 209 vacuum base PV Jr. is highly heat resistant, with continuous heat tolerance to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C) and intermittent heat tolerance to 450 degrees F (204 degrees C). Split-ball joint adjustment allows the vise head to move across three separate planes. View larger. Independent flexibility along the vise arm allows for 140 degrees of additional movement. View larger.Tilt, Turn and Rotate Functionality The PanaVise 209 Vacuum Base PV Jr. utilizes PanaVise single- knob "split-ball" functionality at the point of contact between its base and vise head. Once an item is secured within the head, the split-ball system allows for maneuvering separate planes (tilt, turn and rotate). The complete range of mobility possible with the 209 Vacuum Base PV Jr.'s split-ball system is a 210-degree tilt to the side, along with either an angled rotation, or level turn range of 360 degrees. The PanaVise 209 vacuum base PV Jr. also allows for an added 140 degrees of movement via an adjustment knob at its base. This adjustment utilizes positive indents to prevent "flopping," and locks the arm firmly into place while working on items. The combined range of mobility allows a user to rearrange a work item into virtually any position, and eliminates the need to adjust the overall position of the work station. • High quality - great product
This vise is heavier and more robust than it looks in the amazon listing. The suction cup material (silicone-based?) is a vast improvement over my 40 year-old PanaVise. The relatively long narrow jaws permit access to more areas of parts being clamped, and still work well for bigger parts because of the rigidity. This is a thoughtful design. The vise forms a solid, rigid connection to the benchtop, and release of suction is easy. Operation is smooth, and the tactile feedback from all the moving parts is smooth and positive - you have very precise control over how tight something is being clamped. Quality and finish is excellent on all parts. ... show more

  • Extra set of hands for small projects
I needed an extra pair of hands to help me work on the small electronic projects that I do. After doing some searching, I kept seeing PanaVise products, many of them had some great comments in the reviews, so I decided to purchase the PanaVise 209 for my electronic projects. This unit is a nicely made vise, it arrived within a couple of days of ordering, which is normal for me, I live close enough to the Amazon depot that I never pay for the expedited shipping :) The vise was a nice surprise when I opened the box, it was small enough to fit on my bench without being in the way, but larger than I was thinking, it has a matte black finish, it is light and appears to be all metal with the exception of some plastic parts. This is not a heavy duty tool, but for smaller projects like circuit boards, this will come in handy. If I need anything bigger, I would not be doing the work in my house project area but outside in the garage, that is where all of my heavy duty tools are anyway. Operation of the vise is simple, 3 different twist knobs control the placement of the arms and the width of the jaws. The knob that controls the vise jaw is a bit small as has been mentioned by others, and when you want to open or close the jaws a distance it is a bit of work to get the knob turned in, but that is a trade off for the finer control of the pressure of the jaws when are working with the vise. As for the suction of the base, I am using the vise on a clean counter top made with ceramic tiles that are both flat and smooth, adding a touch of water to the rubber suction cup before use and this baby is firmly mounted to the counter with no movement at all... While as I mentioned and has others, I would not try to use this vise in situations where it was required to hold something that needed to be held firmly with aggressive or violent movements applied to it, but as another set of hands for small or lighter devises, this is a very well suited product... Overall great purchase, I will seriously consider other products by PanaVise in the future, this purchase was well worth it. ... show more

  • Great vise for locksport. Portable, adjustable, and very strong
I got this vise for locksport / lock picking practice. I wanted it to clamp small locks that are awkward to hold by hand, and it works very nicely for that purpose. It holds normal padlocks and other locks very well too. The clamp is very strong. The vise didn't come with the rubber vise jaw covers, but I purchased those separately for a few dollars on Amazon as well. The suction cup mount holds incredibly well on smooth surfaces. I tried it on every table top surface I had nearby and it held perfectly on each surface I tried. I even tried mounting on a painted metal door and it held there too. I was initially a little concerned about how solid the suction cup vise mount would be, but I am really impressed with how solid it is. In the photos I have a Sparrow's cutaway practice lock in the vise. It is a small lock that is particularly awkward to hold and tension properly by hand. The feedback from the lock is actually amplified by being clamped in the vise. I really like how adjustable and portable this vise is. Beyond using this vise for locksport, I'm sure it would be useful for other hobbys as well. I'm sure I will use it for more things than just locksport practice. I'm very happy with the quality and functionality of this little vise! ... show more

  • Super Clamp
Many suction clamps in the market, but this had the extra width I needed for holding bottles.

  • Great vise for small projects and the everyday hobbiest.
So initial thoughts on the vise was that I didnt like it... After using it for a few hours on a project, I decided that I do like it. At first I couldn't get it to stick for some reason to my desk, cleaned my desk and added some water to the bottom of the suction cup and it sticks like a champ. Its now a part of the desk at that point , holds for hours no issues. It's not vary big only like 2.5 inches or less in the vice, makes it great for small to mid sized boards. Which is all my projects at the moment needs. Eventually I'll need something bigger, but this is great for any hobbiest for electronics or working with small objects. Its durable, but it's not something that feels like you can bare down on to much. It's worth the price, no more, no less. If you want something really sturdy that can support weight look somewhere else. ... show more

  • It's A Nice Little Gadget
I'm not entirely sure what I will use it for beyond my one specific task, but it seems well made and is worth having around for small jobs. Nice wide clamp at 2 15/16". Very versatile and can be adjusted to many positions.

  • A wonderful "third" hand for small odd jobs
With this vise I no longer wish I had a 3rd hand, it holds small, light things steady while I file, paint, glue, sew or add something. I love its portability and that it stays put until I release the suction. It is a wonderful addition to my craft tool kit which my husband is not allowed to borrow from! ... show more

  • Doesn't work as described
This was a waste of money. The suction cup does not attach too any surface. Does for a couple of minutes but I go too use it's lost it's suction n falls over. And yes I read the directions and attached too a very "smooth" surface. Even cleaned the surface and suction cup. Let the cleaner dry before trying again. DOESN'T WORK. I would have sent it back but a family emergency came up n didn't get back until the 30 day limit. Do not waste your money ... show more
