  • good for smaller projects
works well. only downfall is the nozzle seems to clog a bit and the sprayer seems to overheat easily and turn off. Would recommend for smaller projects, not something you are going to be staining for hours.

  • Easy to Use and Best For Small Projects
This is a handy little tool to have around for small projects or for painting items with lots of nooks and crannies. You can always use a brush, but I find it slower and if you use a disposable brush...you paint and toss the brush... However, when doing a chair, especially outdoor furniture like I was doing, it takes a lot more time because there are so many little crevices and corners that need to be worked in. This is where the spray painter earns it's value. I found it easy to adjust the spray for the water based latex paint I was using and the reservoir held enough paint for me to get through a small bench and table without having to reload paint. I did a couple of practice sprays on the underside of the bench to get the hang of the spray and before that used a piece of scrap cardboard to adjust the pattern and I was good to go. This is really a nice tool for a DIY person or hobbyist as you can get a nice smooth coat of paint on things. My results were pretty professional, much better than I could have gotten with a brush and like anything else, the more you play with it, the better you'll get. As I was using water based paint, the clean up was pretty simple and the sprayer comes apart to clean pretty easily. I will say that you want to make sure you do a good job on the cleaning if you want it to perform well later. Any dried paint left will severely affect future performance as my experience with other sprayers has taught me. This is a nice, easy to use tool more for home hobbyists and smaller projects. It might work if you want to paint a wall, but if you're looking to do a whole room, you'll be constantly reloading the gun which will make it less enjoyable and more of a chore. It's best for descrete projects...a couple of chairs, outdoor furniture, doors...any smaller project, especially those with lots of details that would be problematic if using a brush. My outdoor furniture came out well, but you have to read the directions and you will likely have to thin whatever paint you're using a little so that it sprays more easily. These won't handle a thicker/dense paint. They work best with thin liquid. You don't want to put on a heavy coat but multiple thin coats to get the best result. I waited for a day with little/no wind and painted outside and recommend that as the way to go. Also recommend you wear eye protection and face mask because breathing in paint fumes isn't going to do your lungs any good...another reason to use this outside when possible. Bottom line is it works well, is easy to use and easy to clean and will be handy for other projects down the road. ... show more

  • Works, but finicky
Got the job done, but not a consistent spray at all. Used to paint ceiling in basement black. Came with different spray options and I tried all five but every 10/15 seconds the spray would cut off and then immediately start back on. Tried thinning paint, same issue. Worked fine for large areas, would not trust it for line or small areas. It did get clogged a few times but came with a tool that easily fixed that issue. Cleaning tool was very easy. Also, light enough to hold above head for long period of time, but the cord can be a bit cumbersome. ... show more

  • A lot of cleaning required after use
So I grabbed this a while back ago and I wanted to wait to review it because I wanted to get the opportunity to test it out. The instructions are clear and easy to read and the machine is simple to use. It's a bit heavy in the hand after you load it up with paint and you need an extension cord to run it because the length of the included cord isn't going to get you far. They have instructions on how much to dilute your paint so that it doest get clogged in the machine. I made a huge mistake in the initial use as I accidentally used an oil based primer without proper dilution and the machine was not able to spray properly. This made a huge mess of things and I quickly leaned how to clean that machine and dismantle it. I ended up just using a roller as I didn't want the paint to dry. However, once I cleaned the machine I tested it out by running water and the spryer was working nicely. I think this is a decent machine for the price point just dilute your paint properly for a smooth finish. ... show more

  • Good for small jobs
There seem to be lots of pieces to change flow and spray pattern. The bottle does not attach very well. It seems to cross thread about half way on and then can be re-engaged till it tightens. Not a big thing, but something I have to be careful about. The spray is adjustable through both the nozzles and the trigger. It seems to do a good job in spraying multiple materials. ... show more

  • Good spray painter for the weekend warrior
If you're the kind of person who only occasionally needs to spray paint or perhaps has a few big jobs like painting your fence, then this is the model for you. I'd say it's better quality than the cheapest one at Harbor F and about the same as the $90 one at HF. It's light overall which isn't a bad thing b/c the paint will add weight and you'll be holding this the entire time but that also tells me the motor is also light weight. The big thing you have to do when using this is clean it right away. Once the paint dries in it, you'll be lucky to get it to perform up to standard. The amount of paint it holds is respectable but again, keep everything handy and moving steadily so nothing dries inside it. Again, for this price point, it's not a bad deal and it'll do what you need in much less time than using a pain brush. ... show more
