  • Works good
Color: For Milwaukee
I was afraid this gun would be heavy, but it wasn't. I was afraid it was going to be a plasticky, cheap product. It was not. Worked as advertised. I didn't like that there's very little documentation shipped with the product. All the how-to videos are online @ Amazon in the same place you buy the product. Keep you phone handy. It was hard to tell from the chart online whether I needed to thin the stain; turns out I did not. But I couldn't figure out from the documentation online or included with the product how to determine whether you would need to thin paint. So look and that and make sure you understand that chart before you buy. The gun was easy to use and I had no issues. I sprayed stain on a 20'x20' deck with about 70 spindles. I used the gun for about 8 hours over 2 days. Worked great on the rail/spindles. It was a little harder to spray the deck surface, and I probably won't use it for that again. Next time I'll do the rail with gun and the deck surface with a brush. Too much bending over to do the desk surface and it was hard to get the boards equally sprayed. I had to go over a few places again. But this gun isn't made for such big projects, so I was okay with that. The cleaning video was good, but you have to be careful when you remove the spray jar and then the tube that moves the paint from the jar to the gun. Underneath the tube's big round disk is a little rubber item about the size and shape of a pencil eraser (the kind you add to a pencil when the original one wears out; the piece is white). Mine fell off during cleaning and I'm glad it didn't go down the drain. I just reinstalled it. Otherwise, I cleaned the gun 2x and it was easy. Regarding the battery usage, I found the battery ran out before I was out of stain, so when I changed batteries, I refilled the stain too. I'd make sure you have at least 2 batteries (I used Milwaukee) so you can keep going once the first battery runs out. I had a big job and 3 batteries, 2 chargers. Only twice did I run out of battery before another one was charged, but again, I was doing a big project. I noticed when the stain wasn't applying as thick as I wanted, it was because the battery was getting weak and time for a change. I compared several products and was glad I chose this one. I recommend this product. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good But there is a Learning Curve
I was intimidated at first having worked with higher end professional sprayers before and knowing what they are capable of. I have also learned a lot about paint techniques and best practices from painters who know much more than I do. I would never use this to paint a room. Practice on test pieces and learn proper spraying techniques. I have also only used water based paints so far. Thinning to proper viscosity is a must, though there are higher end paints (i.e. cabinet paint) that are recommended not to thin so I have not tried them. I have not tried to push the limits of this sprayer with un-thinned paint. Prompt and thorough cleaning is also a must. Professionally I work in theater and this works amazing for scenic painting and faux finishes. I would also recommend this for furniture and small DIY projects. I am also using this currently to prime custom wood cabinets. Some reviews show them for fences and decks, those are probably good uses as well. One day I may try oil based varnishes. ALWAYS wear a respirator or at least a dust mask and good ventilation. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Color: For Milwaukee
I purchased this to stain my fence.~700 linear feet. I can say that I’m not disappointed. Took about 4 hours and 10 gallons of stain. Had zero issues with the gun. The only thing noticed was the intermittent spray when the tank gets lower than 1/4 full. But they call that out in the instructions, so you can’t fault them. It takes an M18 battery without issue which is great because that’s my main tool line. Cleanup was easy, just washed the majority of it with dish soap and hot water. Only wiped down the main gun where the battery connects. It would be wonderful if they offered different tank sizes so that you don’t have to fill so often, but my assumption is that it’s so it doesn’t cause to much stress on the connection point where the front detaches from the rear. Value for money, ease of use ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!
Color: For Ryobi
At least for the Ryobi battery type = Gigantic piece of crap! The largest spray tip just spits the paint out (yes, I thinned out the paint). Battery only lasts 5 minutes, then 30 minutes to charge on a speed charger. Did 3 rounds of this, then threw it in the trash (actually).

  • Works great spraying water based polyurethane
Color: For Milwaukee
I got this for applying water-based polyurethane, and I’m surprised how great this works. Some people complain about battery life, but that’s not actually accurate. I have Milwaukee M18 batteries, and if they don’t recognize an actual Milwaukee tool, they will not show accurate battery life. Once you put it back on the charger, it will update the true level of battery. You may see it totally out of battery when using the sprayer, but it still keeps on going, so it’s not a big deal to get a cordless sprayer for this price. I used the 1.8mm nozzle for water-based polyurethane diluted 10%. For a quart of polyurethane, I added 3 oz of distilled water. The volume was set at minimum, and it sprayed very fine. Really good quality. I wish Milwaukee would make a tool like this, but I’m sure they would charge $200 for it, like the rest of their tools. I’m very satisfied with this tool and recommend it if you are invested in the Milwaukee M18 line. ... show more

  • Not that great
Color: For Milwaukee
Sprays things on way too thick. There's really no control on the spray. The user manual is useless, but playing around with the dials and the manual I've decided there's really no spray control for amount of product regardless of dials. So thinner materials like stain will absolutely drench wood. Maybe it works better for slightly thicker paint, but if you're looking at this to stain, steer clear. You have to go back and use a brush on 100% of pieces of wood which makes the gun pointless. ... show more
