We bought these dishes in matte white and they are sturdy and beautiful. One of the three boxes we purchased came with broken dishes but Amazon processed that refund quickly. Unfortunately, the beauty of these dishes is overshadowed by complete impracticality. On the very first use, I served salad and used a basic flatware knife I've used for 13 years on my old set of dishes without issue and immediately these dishes were scratched beyond repair. You'll notice the company's customer service proactively addresses this can happen and attributes it "residue left from flatware" and advises "buffing it out". THIS DOES NOT WORK! And trust me, I scrubbed for a good 10 minutes! Showing photos here from before and after scrubbing according to instructions from Over&Back. The plate might be a little cleaner but those scratches are untouched! ... show more

After our first use, the dishes had black scratches from regular flatware. I have had my old dishes for 25 years with no scratches ever. Don't buy these if you like to serve clean dishes.

I absolutely love the shape and heft of this stoneware. I bought four sets, two black and two white so I could mix and match on the table. But After a few weeks of light use, the white are already showing lots of gray scratches, while the black ones still look brand new. I’m disappointed.

Do not buy! Just by eating with a fork it scratches the surface of the plate and leaves permanent grey streaks!

Please do not buy! They look beautiful out of the box but if you touch silverware to it, it will scratch. Used once or twice and they are all scratched! Like cereal bowls scratched by spoons, not just knife scratches. Horrible quality.

    • Defects and a return nightmare
I ordered two sets. Both came with defects in the finish, where there'd be a little black bump that the white finished wouldn't cover. I requested returns for both. They said not to worry about returning one set so I donated it, and the other I arranged for a UPS pickup at home to return because of the size/weight of the box. They care now claiming I never made the return and KEEP CHARGING ME. I've had to have three conversations with Amazon about this, and each time they charge me I'm out $120 for 4 days while I wait on the refund again. ... show more

The dishes scratch very easy and there are some imperfections such as ridges in them. Would not recommend.
