Description

Ovation Celebrity Standard Plus CS24P-NBM, Mid-Depth Cutaway, Nutmeg Burled MapleThe Celebrity Standard Plus series is your first step into the world of Ovation, with select figured tops, beautiful abalone appointments and first- rate sound, features and value. The Celebrity Standard CS24P-NBM guitar has the classic mid-depth Lyrachord cutaway body with a handsome burled maple top featuring quartersawn scalloped “X” bracing. We reviewed earlier Ovation bracing patterns extensively to arrive at this remarkable new design, which borrows from the past and is voiced for the present with natural tone and optimal response and power. Together, body and top create the classic Ovation sound, resonating with full projection, remarkable note clarity and balance, and nuanced tonal complexity. The burled maple top also has an elegant abalone rosette, ivory white binding and beautiful Nutmeg gloss finish.CS24P-NBM Front View larger Detail 1 View larger Detail 2 View larger Headstock View larger OP-4BT Preamp View larger Ovation View largerOther premium features include an effortlessly playable neck with a natural satin finish and rosewood-veneer headstock, 20-fret bound rosewood fretboard with abalone microdot inlays, and a rosewood bridge. • Great buy, great guitar
Color: Figured Koa
The guitar arrived 10 days before scheduled and was packaged very well. As others have said, "This IS a beautiful guitar!". The picture doesn't do it justice. After a quick tune I played it for about an hour and was impressed with the ease of play and how well it resonated even without amplification. I currently own an Applause and a Tangent and am happy to add this Celebrity to my collection! This is a great guitar for shorter fingered, small hand individual due to the slim, Stratocaster type neck. It bar chords well and the action is perfect out of the box. Don't know what kind of strings they put on from the factory but they are acceptable. As with most Ovations, a guitar strap is very handy especially with this "mid-depth". Not so much with the shallow bodies, but this one has a tendency to travel off your lap while playing. Can't say enough how much I like this guitar! Anyone would be happy with this model unless you just don't Ovations. Great buy, great guitar ... show more

  • Beautiful but...
Color: Figured Koa
Gorgeous well playing instrument. I'm an Ovation fan and the look and playability did not disappoint. The electronics are a bit sketchy however. The tuner works fine but something is up with the input jack. I'll get around to replacing it at some point. I didn't return it as I play ampless primarily, but, it does bug me a little. Overall gorgeous instrument that needs better QC before shipping. (feel free to send me replacement electronics) ... show more

  • Very happy with this Ovation
Color: Figured Koa
I was nervous about buying a guitar that I hadn't actually seen or played, but I was familiar with Ovation already (I owned a Celebrity 25 years ago) and was very happy with this one as soon as I opened the box. The koa top is a very nice color, not too dark, and has beautiful grain and figure. The mid-depth "engineering resin" body (they'll do anything to avoid the word "plastic") is comfortable and projects reasonable volume, though you shouldn't expect it to sound like a Martin D-28 or anything. To me, however, a guitar neck's width, size, frets, and thickness are what defines whether or not it "fits" me -- and this one definitely does. It's closer to a Strat than the usual acoustic neck, and I like that. With built-in pickup and preamp, it's simple to add volume and bottom end by plugging in! ... show more

  • This Ovation ain't what it used to be...
Color: Figured Koa
I bought this "same" Ovation guitar over 15 years ago. Needed to replace it as the neck broke off from the guitar body due to heat. The new guitar is not the same by any comparison. Not nearly easy to play. Does not stay in tune. It looks sweet. However, that is where the good ends. Back when I competition hunted raccoon hounds the rule was you buy a coon dog under the tree, meaning you see if that dog could track and tree a raccoon. This guitar was a waste of my money. ... show more

  • This was a very nice surprise! Great string action and intonation
Color: Nutmeg Burled Maple
This was a very nice surprise! Great string action and intonation. The plugged in sound was good too. (comparing to the American legend I had.) The aesthetics are quite nice too. The burled maple is quite attractive. It sounds pretty good acoustically as well, but they are certainly better known for their electrified sound. Excellent value! ... show more

  • Great sounding guitar and it looks fantastic
Color: Figured Koa
Great sounding guitar and it looks fantastic. Easy to play. The only problem with it is playing it while sitting. It wants to slide off my lap. I am trying to fix this however.

Color: Nutmeg Burled Maple
Guitar is beautiful and sounds great but after about month of consistent playing the strings started to buzz badly and I needed to adjust the truss rod. Would like to put light strings on it but I'm afraid the buzz will return. Overall it is a nice guitar but it has its issues.
