The remote does not work well. Maybe you have to be very close to the controller on the light string which is up under the eves of our house. My husband got the app to work. The wire is small that holds the lights so I hope it withstands wind and any ice accumulation. The light weight did make it easier to install. This is my third different attempt at stringing lights around our pergola. My previous two string brands were both solar-powered, which I'd thought would be great because they didn't use any electricity. The first brand's strings completely died after 18 months. The solar-charged batteries were not removable or replaceable, so it required completely new strings (major pain). I attributed that to the brand and ordered a different brand's solar-powered string lights. Those ones lasted 13 months, and also did not have a replaceable battery. Not only did neither of the solar string brands last, but even before they totally crapped out, their bulbs stopped getting as bright as they had when they were new. So I gave up on solar lights and bought these, plug-in lights. I am so thrilled with the look of them; the fact that they always reach full brightness, since they're not powered by a waning battery; and the ability to dim them and set them on a recurring schedule through the app is a freaking amazing bonus. I wish they were better because I LOVE the design. Good for a single use, one night only sort of event. They look cool at first but after about a month of 3-5 hour a day use (INDOORS) most bulbs have dimmed out completely, on full strength…not the whole strand… just intermittently… almost to the point to not even being on. ... show more

They state that the wire is thicker. False statement. Not true it’s like small Christmas light wire. Smallest wire I have seen on these type of lights. You would be smart to put a cable or cord up first to attach these lights to for support. Also they are not screw in bulbs. No extra bulbs with set. How do you replace when one goes out. I have a standard set I purchased and we’ve used for a long time and they work well, but I had to buy a remote and converter to be able to turn them off and on without unplugging them. I’m happy these came with a remote and I’m impressed with all the features! The ability to dim them helps create a more subtle vibe, which is cool for our patio.
