I was looking to change up my patio lights for something a little more retro or fun than just a standard bulb. I have purchased from this brand before, and their lights always last a while with great quality and spares. I also love the clips on this one, which made it seamless and like a 3 minute install across my entire patio railings draped. These give off the perfect ambient glow and aren't overly bright or harsh. I connected these to a smart plug on a timer so they turn on in the evenings at sunset and turn off at midnight and I've had no issues over the months I've had them. I've purchased four sets of these lights in the past and am writing this review as I purchase a 5th. For the price the look is great and brings some atmosphere to whichever space you use them in (I have some in my office, living room, back patio and front patio). For an occasional-use outside feature, it'll last a long time. However, if you aim to enjoy these lights on the daily then you should be prepared to continually replace the bulbs. We have one of these sets strung across our living room and turned on each night for 5-6 Hours - our heaviest use of this product. After about a month-ish of that usage so you'll have the first bulb go out and then see one or two burn out each month afterwards. For the look and price I've been happy to replace as they burn out, but it does eventually give you the feeling of "I JUST replaced all the dead ones, now another is gone." Also, sometimes these bulbs burn extra bright when you switch them out - and if it does you should expect that particular bulb to burn out real quick. I also have seen some that appear "burnt out" which come back to life if you lightly tap on the bulb. Unfortunately, the reverse is true as well where I've bumped a working bulb while replacing one next to it and had it die on me. Ultimately the bulbs for these are finicky and not the longest lasting - but at least they're relatively cheap. If I could get the exact same look with LED bulbs instead I certainly would invest, but alas. As for durability over the longer term, the actual cord for the set of lights I put in my living room lasted about two years of heavy daily usage before last night it finally kicked the bucket. It's the only one of the 4 sets of these that has had the cord die. Ultimately great value for what you get, just anticipate some upkeep costs to keep the bright lights a-flowing. ... show more

Nice size for a patio light. Ordered 4 strands, one bulb was out and easily replaced with the spare in the kit. Color is a very soft white/light yellow which I think is perfect for the balcony I’m using it on.

Looking for some inexpensive patio style lights to use under our awning while camping and these fit the application. I like the fast the bulbs are 12" apart so lots of light - but since each bulb is only 5 W not so much it over powers the campground. I actually built a dimmer for these as well. The cable, plugs and hardware seem of good quality for this price point. In my application they will not get a lot of use, nor will they be exposed to extremes of weather. My opinion is these will hold up reasonably well if left outdoors all the time - I would expect to get a couple of seasons of use. Only complaint - and its not an issue with the product per-se - is the bulbs. They appear to be glass that is quite thin and I think will break easily if dropped. Using them as I am for camping I have to be very careful when putting them up/taking down not to have the bulbs hit the ground. They came very well packed - and that partially solved the complaint. The rigid foam insert used in the packaging allows the bulbs to be reinserted for storage. This is awesome! The foam should last a long time and it 100% protects the bulbs during transport or storage. I also got two replacement bulbs - I think the listing said they came with one so happy times! Conclusion - at this price point you can't go wrong. Even if you have to buy a complete set of replacement bulbs (I'd go LED) this would only add another $20 and still a great deal. If things change over this summers camping season I'll update this review but I expect to use for these years as part of my camping kit. ... show more
