    • Basic kill switch lanyard with good length
I got this kill switch lanyard for my boat, which has a Mercury engine and remote throttle. The loop fits under the “Run switch” and makes the run switch turn off when it is removed. The coiled lanyard part stays short when I’m near the Run Switch and allows a generous distance away before it pulls out that loop. The clip is reasonable and connects easily to my PFD. If you’re in the market for this type of thing, you’ll already know what all this accomplishes. The important this is that it does allow the engine to run when it is supposed to, and it does pull out when it needs to make the engine stop. This particular kill switch and lanyard is a spare for me. I think it is such an important safety item that I make sure I can always have one to use. At this price [$10 at the time of this review] it is very affordable and is well worth it. ... show more

    • Better than the original!
My original emergency shutoff cord that came with my boat was elastic. It didn't take that much time for the elastic to give up and no longer coil up. This new emergency shutoff cord is the plastic used on personal watercraft like Waverunners. It seems to be well made and clearly the end is the right design for my Mercury outboard control. I will update my review if I have any issues, but at this time, I'm glad I purchased this, and I plan to purchase another just to have a spare on board. ... show more

    • No more tangles
I got this for using in my gheenoe with a tiller handle outboard. The one that came with it was a roughly 5' rope and I always got it tangled in the back of the boat around the tank or fuel line. This one recoils up short enough to stay out of the way. There is no way this will stretch to 60" without coming out of the motor but it is long enough for my needs. ... show more

    • Works as well as factory lanyard
This lanyard works just like the factory ones. Over time, lanyards can wear out or break so it’s always a good idea to have extras on hand. This lanyard works as well as the one that came with your motor but it costs much less than buying a new one from the manufacturer of your motor. Save yourself some money , lose nothing in performance and keep yourself and your guests safe with this lanyard. Cheers ! ... show more
