Bought this is a 16th birthday gift for my cat. (Yes, we celebrate her birthday. No, I will not "get a life." She's my baby.) My cat played with it for a minute, rubbed her face all over it, then never touched it again. My mother's cat, however, immediately took to this toy and kept sneaking into my cat's purrsonal space to play with it. So now the red birdy has been moved into mom's cat's toybox. It gets played with and is loved, which is the important thing. If only that cat would stop having a game of chase-the-burd in the wee hours of the morning. My teenage kitten loves this toy and tosses it around and plays with it on a regular basis. I found out that though cats are considered to be color blind, they can actually see the color red (maybe that explains some of the attraction as well as the resemblance to birds. My little guy was a feral outdoor kitten who made it clear he wanted to be adopted, so maybe he had some past experience with hunting (but hopefully, not catching birds). He is now an inside cat and the birds in our area are safer. He and his inside cat companions also love to catch (and even eat) some bugs. ... show more

The cat loved it straight away.... she also headed straight for the water dish to drowned it. 🤨 The bird chirping would not quit once immersed in water! I had to put it outside. You may want to opt for one with no sound effects if yours is prone to dropping things in the water dish! Other than that it's a great toy! 👍 ... show more

My cat looooves this toy. He’s a big, meaty 15 lb boy and this toy keeps him busy. The chirp is adorable and gets his attention, the feathers mimic a real bird and he will play with this for hours, carrying it with him proudly. Note: my cat is indoor only.

So far it has held up well with two adults and one kitten and it is about two months old. I also think cats really engage with red toys.
