  • sounds good, works great, simple
Easy to use, sounds great. I've used this for an entire summer season so far, indoor and outdoor, restaurants to festivals. I would never expect an instrument to sound good running through this pedal, so don't use the 'input'. Give it its own channel on your board. How I use it; run out into the mixer with volume maxed, Eq on the board: bass all the up, highs all the way down and cut the mids back, add reverb. That will give a good thud. I always tape it down with gaff tape because it can move...carpet, concrete, wooden stage...everywhere. On loud stages it can be a little noisy because the transducer inside is 'like' a microphone so the more secure to the floor the less extra noise you'll have. Lastly- sitting or standing I prefer to use my heal so it sits behind my right foot and I tap that way. Price - It shouldn't cost much to make these but the design is good and it works well, so whatever. I don't judge. I get compliments on the sound and I like it too. ... show more

  • It's awesome! Just don't plug your guitar into it.
I saw a few reviews where people were dissatisfied with the sound of both their guitar and the unit, when they ran their guitars through the unit. For the life of me (I'm also a 30 year sound engineer) I cannot see why anyone (including the manufacturer) would think that's a good idea. This is a piezo pickup in a wooden box. You have to crank the bass up or it will not sound like a kick. That's just way sound works. NEVER plug your guitar into this unit. If you don't have an extra channel for it, then buy a mixer that has more channels. I use it with a cheap Guitar Center direct box, so I can go into my mixer with a balanced signal. Then I crank all the bass on the channel and roll off all the highs and most of the mids. The sound is phenomenal. The first time I used it an audience member came up to me after the set and asked if I used tracks. He was amazed that it was just this box. I'm thinking of buying another one and using the pass through so I have a double bass drum. I tend to stomp both feet. DON'T PLUG YOUR GUITAR INTO IT ... show more

  • No batteries and it works!
If you like a little bass drum while you strum, this Annalog fills the bill. I recommend you run it through a bass amp if you have one to get that thunk that you would get from a bass drum. I play drums, but have too much gear already to get a full drum set and all I wanted was the bass drum thunk while I play guitar. Hard to beat for less than $100 and no battery needed. ... show more

  • Great for the price
Works well, works best with a base equalizer

  • NOTHING to write home about here.
LMAO...IF YOU ARE A SOLO PLAYER...you can keep a beat here with this...pedal. That's about it...if you are looking for a sort of a bassy sound...THIS is not the pedal for you. Sure, you can keep your beat...but no...feeling to it. You get a tap tap tap sort of sound. I guess I was expecting a bit TOO much from this little guy...the quality is good...I was probably a bit unfair up above maybe a 4 star rating...but for the rest...there is NO...2.5 stars to put up there. If all you want is a tap tap tap sound...then...this gets a five star rating all the way down for you...but...it didn't deliver for me. But...I'll keep working on it. ... show more

  • A cajon for your foot? Love this sonic buffet!
I was wary based on the mixed reviews, but this thing is outstanding. It's a pickup in a very attractive ergonomic box - very much like a cajon for your foot (without snare.) You can get a ton of different sounds based on where you strike the pedal, how hard you strike, whether you stomp or drag, and the type of soles you have on your shoe...or sock...or bare feet. So many variables to create your sound. I run it through a bass amp and tweak away for more pop/folk/drive/whatever sonic options. You are limited only by your ability to balance on one foot while you explore with the other! (Or sit down and play.) As others have said, don't run the guitar through it--you can't get the sound you want from both instruments from one output. ... show more

  • Sounds like a metronome
This does not have any kind of kick sound. It sounds like a metronome at best. There's no bass or punch to it at all, and if used in a performance it would probably be really annoying to the audience. I would not recommend this to anyone.

  • Really nice stomp box for acoustic effect. Sometimes simple is better!
I'm an acoustic musician and was looking for a simple stomp box to provide a nice percussive beat when playing solo or duo gigs. I first tried another brand and although it had numerous digitized sounds, I knew I'd only use two or three, but it was very expensive and required batteries. Then I found this one. It's perfect for my needs. It's made of real wood, has only one sound (though you can bring out different tones with your amp EQ), doesn't need batteries, and has a rubber pad along the entire bottom surface to help it stay in place. It has a bonus of an extra pass-through port for my guitar so I don't have to take up another port on my amp. And for the price, it's an outstanding value, I couldn't be more pleased. ... show more
