  • If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.
Where do I start... I didn't even get to the conditioning and blow drying before I started creating this review in my mind. Let me begin by saying I've been a solo-relaxer (I apply chemical straighteners to my own hair) for over a year now. I've tried all of the well known boxed No-Lye products; Dark & Lovely, Africa's Best, Soft & Beautiful, ORS Olive Oil, Olive Miracle, AMLA Legend, Optimum and Dr. Miracle, along with plenty of no-name store brands. The only product out of these No-Lye relaxers that gave me a decent result was Dr. Miracle, but over time, I still noticed a change in my hair texture after relaxing. My hair would give off a "residue" or chalky substance after relaxing, and it wouldn't be completely gone until 2 or 3 weeks later, after lots of shampooing, brushing, and picking. And no, this wasn't dandruff since I don't have a dry scalp and this chalky substance was rubbing off of my hair strands. My scalp was fine. I did some research, and I learned that No-Lye relaxers are prone to depositing a calcium build-up on your hair. This is the chalkiness I've felt every time I relax my hair, even with the best No-Lye relaxer available. That calcium barrier also changed the texture of my hair, making it feel even coarser, and moisturizing was nearly impossible since no lotion or cream could penetrate the calcium. So I decided last week that I would try a Lye Relaxer for a change, and I just finished applying, processing, washing/neutralizing, and conditioning, and now while I wait for this hot oil treatment to set, I'll tell you about my first experience with ORS Olive Oil Creme Relaxer. I have very thick hair, volume-wise AND the hair shaft itself. It's also fairly long, being shoulder blade length. I mention this because anyone with very thick, longer hair knows how much of a pain it is to comb and brush our hair, and how noticeable breakage and damage becomes. After I washed the relaxer out of my hair, I headed to the nearest mirror so I could see the aftermath. Unwrapped the towel, and... the difference in my hair was obvious. It wasn't stringy, tough and "crunchy" looking, it actually looked soft!! That in and of itself was worth receiving praise over, but what about de-tangling? I've avoided using brushes after relaxing since my hair was so stiff and tangled, and never used combs in my hair for the same reason; an effect of the calcium build-up. But I dared to pick up my paddle brush this morning, and... it glided right through my hair. No breakage, no snagging, no chalk dust, no tangles. Praise Be! Is this all in my imagination? I had to press further. Fine Tooth, Rat Tail Combs. Anyone with kinky, thick, coarse hair knows you don't bring these anywhere near your scalp except to part. But since I was on a roll, why not give it a try... A fine-toothed, rat tail comb slid through my hair like butter. No detangling spray, no conditioner, no hair lotion; JUST HAIR. And it combed through with no resistance whatsoever. I haven't been able to do that since I was a child. And there was no breakage to be seen this night. I am sold. This is the product that I will be buying for the rest of my existence. After I finish this hot oil treatment and a blow dry, I may come back and post the photo results of this miracle. ... show more

  • Best perm I've ever had!
My 4c hair was so resistant, matted, dry and entangled....I never thought anything work work.. My hair doesn't "take" a perm, and I can usually feel it reverting back to its natural pattern before I even wash all of the perm out, but with THIS perm...my hair is LAID like dobermans hair. Do NOT change the formula because I could buy 10 of these just to make sure I have them on hand every 6 wks. I'm never using anything else. This perm has changed my life. ... show more

  • White girls! Do not use
I wanted to see if it would relax my hair and make it straighter.....it burned/melted my hair. And I accomadated less time than instructions because I know my hair isn't kinky. I'm sure this works well for others 🤷

  • Great for Coarse/Resistant Hair
After my old relaxer stopped working, I went on a search for a new one. I switched to lye-based relaxers a few years ago and decided to stick with this formulation. My hair is also extremely coarse and resistant so I needed a Super strength as the only thing my hair will do if I tried Mild or Regular is spit it out and laugh. I came across the ORS formula and because it was a brand I was familiar with decided to try it. To give you an idea as to what I was dealing with, my hair was 3 different textures: relaxed, new growth and the previously relaxed hair that my old relaxer was not capable of handling. I needed to do a corrective relaxer to straighten my new growth "and" deal with the under-processed section of hair. This relaxer did the trick. Not only did it straighten the under-processed sections but it straightened my new growth with no problem. There was no burning and my hair after rinsing and neutralizing was incredibly soft and smooth. I also used far less product than I did with my previous relaxer. This product gets an A+ and is a definite go. ... show more

  • Didn’t work
This relaxer did absolutely nothing to my daughter’s hair. We spent a long time waiting. And no effect. Very disappointed. Regular strength relaxer from Walmart did more good than this one. Very disappointed.

  • I don't look like a cave woman anymore!
This works great. I could not use any relaxer without getting severely burned end up looking like I started. But this organic creme is both effective and safe. Of course it is a chemical and you always and you do have to be careful.I am very happy with the results. I love it! *helpful tips* 1-make sure your hair is dirty for at least a week to protect your scalp(this is still a chemical) 2-use Vaseline to cover the boarders of your hair line all the way around including your ears(try not to touch hair) 3-rinse out thoroughly and wash your hair with a neutralizing shampoo to deactivate the chemical which can cause after-burns on your scalp(if you don't have neutralizing shampoo use vinegar after washing your hair 4-Know what your doing so you don't end up bald!(You-tube has videos on how to properly apply a relaxer) ... show more
