This has been such an amazing brand for our adopted cats. Their coat is so soft and shiny, and they absolutely love it. The canned food doesn’t have that weird unnatural canned food smell you’d get with most name brands. One thing I noticed about this food, that it actually has a pleasant bland smell of a chicken cooked for human. It doesn't have that nauseated smell of a regular cat food that stinks out your whole house, and my kittens love it. It is also trully wet food - has a good amount of liquid/broth in it.

I feed this to my 7 month old kitten who is very active, he gets the zoomies. I like that Instinct kitten is a high protein wet food and that it’s made without grain, corn, soy, carrageenan or artificial flavors or preservatives. My cat likes it and will usually eat it all. It seems to be made with some quality ingredients, it actually smells good. I’ve been buying the 5.5 ounce cans and give my little dude a quarter of it 4 times a day. There are only two things that I don’t like about this Instinct product. It would be nice to have a little bit more variety. I’ve been alternating between this Instinct chicken flavored wet kitten food and the regular varieties of Instinct wet food with duck, rabbit or lamb. I think he likes that. Other thing that I don’t like about the Instinct chicken flavored wet kitten food is that it’s made in Thailand. Only the Instinct rabbit and venison flavors are made in the USA. ... show more

    • Questions of Quality or Handling issues...

Instinct has always been a brand I trusted, and other proteins they currently process seem fine and the frozen raw I have been feeding is fine, however, this batch of Canned Kitten food seemed off - color was off and texture was off. I am confident it was mishandled by Amazon warehouse and carrier, as the there were popped open and many dented cans - it arrived smelling like death/rotten food so much most of it had to be discarded. Amazon took ownership of the issue, so no complaint there. I also recently got a Case of Instinct Rabbit Recipe (Chewy.com) and it was full of bone chards - so I have to blend it well, before I can feed it to the little ones. Conversely, a case of Venison I purchased (Petco.com) is perfect, just as I would expect it. So I have no idea anymore - Instinct food, at the moment, feels like a crapshoot - some is great, some is not. I am giving this Case of Kitten Food 3 stars for a product that I believe would have been ok, had it not been mishandled and because Amazon owned the issue - but there are still questions of quality and I am dubious about getting pet food on Amazon - HOWEVER - their own brand of food (Kitzy) seems to be fine upon arrival, so how come that was is being handled with care?? ... show more

    • Inconsistent Batches and No Variety
Flavor Name: Kitten Chicken Size: 3 Ounce (Pack of 24)
Pros: Super clean ingredients, helps with digestive issues. Cons: Very inconsistent formula. One can would be crumbly swimming in broth, while another would be super firm with hardly any broth around it. When it is crumbly, you can see the filler ingredients (peas and carrots). There is also no variety to choose from. I wish i could have switched up the flavors and textures for my kitten to see if she would prefer one over the other. This is the cleanest brand of kitten food i could find with no carrageenan, guar gum or xantham gum, and having real food like eggs vs dry egg product like other brands so of course i had to try. My kitten seemed to like it at first, but after a month she would eat less and less of it. She was having minor tummy issues (due to worms) and my vet suggested i try a different well known brand/prescription diet to make sure it wasnt the food. My poor baby went from random not fully formed stools to explosive diarrhea. I switched her back to instinct after a week and like magic, her stools were back to normal. Ive even purchased small bags of instincts digestive health probiotic kibble add on to help and it sure has. But even then, my kitten would barely eat the wet food, but she enjoys the dry food very much. Kittens and cats need a predominantly wet food diet, so only giving her kibble wont work. Ive decided on wet food from another brand and sticking with instincts kibble on days where im not home to feed her. I like the brand so much though that i will try again in the future when she is ready for adult food since they have more variety to choose from. ... show more
