Very easy to assemble and works quite well. This was purchased to replace an older model that lasted 10 years. The only issue I had with this item was that it did not include the handle for the water flow through the panel. I contacted the seller as well as Amazon and received the missing handle. This particular item is few feet longer than the original one that I am replaced. Hopefully this will last as long as the original one I had. It appears to be more rugged also. Suuuper frustrating setting this up like the other reviews said. You need to purchase an extra hose, hose clamps and gaskets. This is not mentioned on the instructions (which are awful by the way). Extra pool hoses were extremely hard to find. We ordered some extra parts on Amazon and did eventually figure it out after buying a proper size hose and sawing off the ends that it came with. As far as heat goes its amazing. We have it laying beside the pool on a bit of an incline to absorb the most sun. Right now it's 75 outside and the pool is 86F! It got to 81 today so that thing really is working! So glad we didn't shell out thousands for a gas or electric heater before buying this. Once you figure out how to connect it and find the extra parts from various websites it's great! Definitely 4 out of 5 stars because of the hunt for parts. The instructions are pretty awful for setting it up but after a few internet searches for photos of what it should look like it worked. Our pool is 32'x16', approx 13k gallons and one panel is all we need. ... show more

I had previously purchased an electric pool heater for around $1,000. This solar heater out-performed the electric one. I did not build a frame or attach the heater to any support system. I rolled my heater out flat on the ground and connected to my pool. I switched to the on position at daylight and switched it off at sunset. I easily gained 10 degrees in 4-5 hours of morning light. Edit - Took much longer than I expected but the water has been consistently swimmable. No longer cold in the pool. That being said I thought two of the 24 foot ones would make my pool warmer than it is, but I'm more optimistic that it might actually get to that point. I can't complain too much. That being said the instructions recommend using flexible pool hose. I personally suggest going straight to rigid PVC. Original review - I bought 2 of the 24 foot long solar pool heaters to heat my 16 by 32 above ground pool. I built a rig to tilt the panels 30 degrees off the ground and my panels are pointed south west. I even have a solar pool cover that I use to make sure the heat doesn't escape through evaporation or from wind. According to everything I have read, 1 heater panel this size should raise the pool 5-10 degrees a day, but the pool is still freezing cold even after several high heat, clear sky, high UV index days. I was hoping buying two would mean it would raise the pool temp 10-20 degrees a day. I would be happy if the 2 panels together raised the pool only 5 degrees a day, but the pool has not increase more than 5 degrees over the course of 7 days. I'm going to keep trying to make it work, but as of right now, seems like an amazing waste of nearly $700. Next, the installation instructions are pretty bad. ... show more

I've tried a few different solar heaters and this is the first (and only) one that actually works. It's very well constructed and heats the water. Our normal high pool temp this time of year is 82 degrees by 4:00 p.m. This heater has it up to 86+ by 4:00 p.m. We have an 18' foot round above ground pool, uncovered, with a 1.5 HP pump. The key is that the solar heater needs to be exposed to continuous direct sunlight from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. when the pump is running. I put ours on the roof of our patio awning. It required 2 X 35' hoses, hose clamps, plumbers tape and some fine tuning but eventually the drips stopped. You can actually feel the water coming through the return is much warmer. It's just a matter of flow rate and pool size in terms of long it takes to warm up a pool. Long story, I definitely recommend this. ... show more

I looked at a lot of pool heaters before I figured I would give this a try, I didn’t want an electric one because of cost to my electric bill. This solar heater does the trick, I live in a area where it’s colder so it’s hard to get my pool above 82/84, my pool in now consistently at 90/92. I love it. Would be better if all parts were included, and parts were pool specific. How can u say 30 min installation when it takes that long to get it to lay flat?! There should also be an installation video available.
