  • BEWARE OF FLOATING CLAY PEBBLES: Cz Garden Clay Pebbles SINK. Floating Clay Pebbles do not absorb enough moisture so they float. Floating clay pebbles will essentially float away when you water your plants. This is especially problematic in hydroponics, aquariums, or if using as a decorative top layer. Cz Garden Clay Pebbles absorb the proper amount of moisture plants desire, so they SINK.
  • BEWARE OF WILD pH SWINGS: Cz Garden Clay Pebbles are All Natural, Inert, pH-neutral and stable, Sterile, Non-Toxic, clean and decorative. Beware of lower quality clay pebbles with wild ph swings!

  • Easy to use, dusty out of the bag
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
Make sure you rinse first. Lots of dust, especially at the bottom of the bag. My pothos/Devil's ivy cuttings have taken to the LECA pretty well and have been growing in them for about 5 months now. I would recommend going for at least 4 lb bag if you have multiple small plants. The clay beads are easy to use after rinsing and soaking for a few hours. Most of the LECA beads are a good size. You have a handful of tiny beads ½" or smaller at the bottom of the bag, but not too many. They're a little pricey for the amount you get/getting started, but the nice thing is they're reusable. Before reusing LECA beads between plants, I rinse them off, checking for broken off roots and debris and microwave them in a bowl of water for a few minutes, then let them cool completely before putting away. ... show more

  • Clean but unevenly sized
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
This leca is surprisingly clean. Even after the first soak and rinse there wasn't much grit at the bottom of the bucket. The only downside is that the pellets are unevenly sized. I would have preferred an evenly-sized product. I will start using it today and possibly update the review in a few months. ... show more

  • Good for hydroponics
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
I bought these about a year ago for small-scale hydroponic gardening. They do their job. A few rinses gets rid of the dust generated in transit. A good hot soak and scrub gets off most of the white salt deposits from nutrient buildup over time. These are on the smaller side - the larger pieces are probably around 12mm and the smaller ones closer to 5-6mm, but there are outliers in both directions. Most are roundish, but several have extra lumps or little chips out of them. Roots seem to love the irregular ones though, so I don't mind. There aren't too many broken pieces - maybe 1-2oz worth. Most of my plants are smaller (mostly herbs), and the smaller or broken pieces make it easier to support transplanted seedlings. For reuse, I soaked a few times in hot water and then with a bit of hydrogen peroxide before rinsing, and a second round of plants is doing well. Eventually, they'll probably get too clogged with nutrient salts for hydroponic reuse, but so far, I've not had too many issues. I have mostly a Kratky setup. Note that these are lightweight pebbles. They WILL float. About half of them floated even after soaking - this is NORMAL. These are not the kind you want to put in an aquarium. You want that light weight and porosity to help wick water to your plant roots. My only reservation to ordering again is that the packaging can be hit or miss. Mine arrived in a gray mailer bag inside a box with other things I'd ordered. Although well-sealed, such bags are 1) not reusable and 2) far from protective or airtight. There was a fair bit of dust leaking out of it onto other items in the box due to how much bouncing the pebbles were given free rein to do. Be wary of what you order this with. Other than that, these were well worth it. Will probably order again. ... show more

  • Many uses
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
I'm in love with this leca. I've been cultivating my love of plants for a while now and bought a bag last year. I have bought several plants this year and although I've only repotted one plant in leca, most of my other pages have it sitting at the bottom of their containers, helping with drainage and humidity. As my strawberry plants mature in soil, I hope to transfer them to these balls soon. Happy gardening ☺️ ... show more

  • Quality and Weight ✅
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
After reading reviews, I was concerned that I would get much less than the 2 pounds that I ordered. As my picture shows, it was the correct weight, and they are whole (not crushed nor broken) clay balls. There is a nice variety of sizes of the balls. I added them to my orchid potting mix, so time will tell as to how my orchids grow and bloom with this new addition. They were easy to add when potting and make sense to give air pockets, plus they won’t disintegrate. ... show more

  • I recommend this product!
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
This is the second bag of Clay Pebbles I have purchased. I was not sure about them at first, but now after a couple months, I can give an educated positive review. I needed some real help with my orchids! I was doing just about everything wrong, and they were not doing well at all. Along with following some instructions from the Orchid Girl videos (which I love), and buying some new plastic pots with drainage slots, and using these pebbles, I think I may have saved some of my plants. My main problem seemed to be overwatering, and the bark potting stayed too damp between waterings. Recently I started repotting my orchids using a combination of these pebbles and bark. Everyone has different techniques, but this one seems to be helping me. I put some pebbles on the bottom of the pot, and then put the plant in the pot, sitting the roots on the pebbles, and then I sprinkle some more pebbles in between the roots until the pot is filled a little more than 1/3rd (see photo). Then I fill the remainder of the pot with a coarse bark blend, one that has good size pieces and won't break down easily. I have been really pleased!! In, just in a few months, most of my orchid plants have brightened up, their leaves are shiny and the are giving me pleasure as house plants again. I hope I get some blooms, of course, but the first step is to get the plants healthy! In the 1st photo, you can see that new roots are growing happily both in the bark and the pebbles. I really think the pebbles are helping with drainage, and they hold in some moisture without oversaturating the roots of my plants. I recommend this product! Best Regards, Robin Lyons ... show more

  • They work, but the ones on top of the planter turn white on top
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
I bought these to try with a new LED indoor succulent planter I got. I was very doubtful that they would stay alive but they have somehow managed to take root and survive with just an occasional watering! They've been planted for about 2.5 months now and this is how they look today. The pebbles seem to hold water pretty well for a nice amount of time. Just a few things you should be aware of. First, if you're using them in a decorative, clear container, know that they are very dirty and the water will look very brown and muddy when you water them. Second, as you can see from my pictures, the pebbles on top of the planter have turned white. Perhaps it's a function of the LED light I'm using combined with the minerals in the tap water. I dunno what it is but it's weird and unsightly. Maybe the pebbles leach the minerals out of the water. Maybe I'm just speculating because I'm clueless. Anyway, overall I'm happy with this purchase and can attest that succulents can live in them with NO additional soil which is pretty cool! I think the price is pretty fair for what you get. I can recommend! And yes I paid full price for these. Hopefully this has been helpful. If so, please click the little button below so it can be helpful to other people as well! Thanks! ... show more

  • Plant friends love the leca!
Size: 2 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
Newbie to leca but now forever sold to it! My silver dragon is so happy in these little clay balls…she has perked up immensely and as regal as ever showing out! She’s been in there for a couple weeks now and her roots have expanded and grown so much and even throwing out another baby for me! Keep in mind that there are some plants that do not do well in leca so just do a little research before completely diving in! Also, do be mindful that leca does not provide any nutrients like soil so you will need some kind of fertilizer for your babies. I use Fox Farm liquid “grow big” and 1/2 the amount said on the bottle! ... show more

  • Worked for my floating island pond plants
Size: 4 LBS Cz Expanded Clay Pebbles
Used them to cover potting soil in pond plant containers. They look great and keep the potting soil in place. One reviewer stated that these clay pebbles sink; that has not been my experience, but the fact that they float was actually helpful in my application.
