  • Great head
I finally decided to update my amp. Really wanted a tube amp. I played on a few different amps, but I was looking for something that was versatile. I played an AD30 at guitar center and I wasn't a huge fan, but then I reviewed some more Orange amps and found out that the TH30 was more of modern rock sound to it. So I decided to order it and try it out. I really like it. As you can see by the pic there's not a lot of nobs. To some that could be a con and to others that could be a pro. It's simple to use and exactly what I was looking for. One weird thing about it, I guess, would be the sound levels for clean vs. dirty. At band practice, I'll have clean at like 2-3 and dirty will be at like 5-6 so there is a big difference. Over all great amp. Next purchase = Orange cab. ... show more

  • ORANGE TH30 is the BOMB
Well I've got many of valve (tube) amp including a Marshall DSL100 / Pevey Windsor / Kustom Defender / Fender Hot Rod Deluxe / Krank revo / and 3 orange amps. I own the Micro dark, dark terror and the TH30 and I can say hands down that the TH30 is BY FAR my favorite amp. This is exactly what sound I was looking for, I thought the Krank was what I wanted, but it was just too dirty no matter what the level. I also have an attenuator so I can keep the tone and lower the watts. But this TH30 at full volume on 30 watt setting is just killer, it's actually too loud for any gig around here. As most have said, the clean channel is great with just a tad taste of bite, but the dirty channel can do ANYTHING, as a matter of fact, I have tons of pedals and there's not a single distortion / OD that I would use with this, it actually craps on the tone, this thing does not need a distortion pedal. Just the greatest amp i've ever played on. ... show more

  • This amp is a terrific amp. It gets really loud
This amp is a terrific amp. It gets really loud. I have been searching for a specific sound and now I'll stop cause this amp is it. It has outstanding clean channel that just shimmers and a distortion channel that gets you classic rock sounds from AC/DC to Led Zeppelin with the shape knob at 6 to 9 o'clock setting, and also crank the shape clockwise and it's got a great dirty channel with heavy distortion for playing everything else. It takes pedals very well. But you don't need a distortion pedal it has so much gain and dirt on dirty channel, drop tuning gets so low and sounds fantastic, the amp is worth every penny. there is a reason Orange amplification is spendy, You pay for what you get. Look no further this is the amp people want. Use a Orange 4 x 12 cab and magic will happen I guarantee you ... show more

  • Great sounding amp
Ok, I'm a little biased. I love Orange amps. IMO they're the best sounding mass market amps you can buy. The TH30 is the best low end amp Orange makes IMO. After trying the others (OR series, etc.), I chose this one. While it's not as powerful as the Rockerverb series, it's 30 watts packs a lot of punch. The clean channel offers great Orange cleans (just a tad of bite), though I do wish it had a gain knob (it has just volume, treble, and bass knobs on this channel). However, the overdrive channel comes with volume, shape (basically a tone control), and gain controls. You can get everything from a clean crunch to outright filthy distortion. If you can't afford the Rockerverb but want the Orange sound, this is your amp. Very versatile in its sounds. You can also adjust its output settings to 7, 15, or the full 30 watts. Highly recommended. Cheers PS. I tried the TH100 too. The TH30 IMO is clearer and just nearly as loud. At a few hundred less, I think the TH30 is a better value ... show more

  • Very flexible, outstanding tone
30/15W operation with four output tubes (power drop is reduced rail voltage, not tone sucking pentode/triode switching), or selectable 15W/7W using two output tubes. Reduced rail voltage keeps tone constant, but induces output tube distortion at lower volumes, but note that headroom for bass transients is also reduced. You could buy this amp for the clean channel alone.. If you like Fender or Vox biting cleans then this isn't it.. The clean channel on this is amazing.. rich, creamy tone with huge headroom with a deathly quiet amp noise and takes pedals well... so its masterful just like that... but......but then, the dirty channel has serious amounts of in your face Orange tone.. upper lows and mids prominant..nothing like Marshall at all, and has gain available from mild crunch to nutso levels.. for me the sweet spot was noon-3pm with the shape knob between 10am to 2pm... the dirty channel does generate some amp hiss of course, but a decimator in the loop fixes that just fine. I have this paired with a PPC112 or PPC212 and could not be happier with the tone. Classic with character. ... show more
