  • Works great & easy to install
Works great & installed okay. A little bit wider than my original by nearly 2 inches, from the positive terminal to the negative. The height and depth were the same. It fit okay, the negative terminal is closer to the back wall of the car than the original, but not a problem. The air hose popped on no problem, but it is a snug stretch. Everything clamped down okay like it was before. Took a little over an hour due to heart burn from leaning over. But there's a video of someone changing it out in about 5 minutes. My battery even had over 12 volts already. My original 2008 battery lasted 7 years. I probably could have kept using it even though it only had about 10 volts because it kept working if I didn't blast my music, but I've drained it multiple times within the last year by pumping my music too loud and draining the battery below the threshold of starting the car. My base model 2008 Prius has some nice speakers that really kick out some thumping bass. ;) I haven't seen any MPG gain over my old battery as some people claim. But it does feel a bit more responsive, like it has more power when you have to punch it to pass someone. To check your battery voltage without a volt meter, press the start button without pressing the brake to turn on the accessories without power to the car. Press and hold the Display button while tapping an empty area on the left side top and then bottom 3 times making a total taps of 6. You'll need to tap through some menus to get to the battery voltage. Do a Google search to find how to properly get to that menu, because there's also another way by using the head lights switch too. All in all a great buy and easy to install. ... show more

  • Perfect fit for 2007 Prius
When the battery went out on my 2007 Prius I stopped by Costco to pick up a good replacement battery, generally about 70 bucks. Well they didn't have one for my car but suggest Interstate Batteries(similar to Batteries +). I checked Interstate but they showed the battery as "dealer only". Well I jumped on the internet and quickly found the only aftermarket battery for my Prius was made by Optima(which I was familiar with as a top quality gel-cell type of auto battery) and it gave a link to Amazon. Unfortunately Amazon was out of stock at the time but I knew other local stores sold the Optima brand, so armed with the model number (S46b24r) I called several local auto parts stores. Only one shop had this model in stock and it was two hundred forty nine dollars! Amazon sells a similar battery, the only difference I could see was the larger US standard posts(the Prius uses the smaller basically non existent in the US smaller Japanese posts) that group is d51(one hundred fifty bucks in stock at Amazon) and also lacking is a vent hole that because the battery is sealed doesn't really matter. Apparently one can purchase adapter parts(15 bucks) to convert the posts, which I thought about for a 85 dollar savings, but I wasn't looking forward to it. Luckily the next day Battery Mart(Amazon) got this correct battery back in stock(one hundred ninety five dollars) so I ordered it and installation was basically as original. Not that the whole process was as easy as ANY other car I've ever replaced the battery in, it was kind of a pain but thats more because of the car design, not the Optima battery. The original lasted 5 years, I hope to get 8 or more years from the Optima at which point it will probably be up to someone else to replace the battery :) As others said since this carrying strap is much thicker than the original I kept it on TOP of the hold down bracket and I did need to reuse the nipple that the vent tube ran to(it simply pulls out of the old battery and pushes in the Optima battery) but again since the Optima is sealed the whole vent thing is basically for you to have some place to stick the tube on, not that it does anything. Update 2/27/13 Battery still working great but I now see the price has dropped to one hundred eighty eight dollars....Amazon ;) ... show more

  • Easy DIY replacement for a Gen 3 Prius
The battery came pre-charged and the car started fine. This was my 2nd replacement on a 3rd Gen Prius (2015) and the removal of the old battery and install of the new battery was an easy DIY. Just watch a youtube video for steps.
