This vest zips easily right up the front. Unlike a neoprene vest it doesn’t hold any water, so it stays very light weight. Plenty of arm range of motion, I forget I’m wearing it while I’m paddling. I can't say enough good about this life vest. We became the owners of a lake cabin a little under two years ago. Last summer was our first time owning a boat and kayaks. Because we had so much upfront cost, we purchased those cheap, orange life vests just to have something for safety reasons. My husband also picked up some higher quality life vests on Craigslist. I was so unhappy with both of these. The orange ones are, well, one-size-fits-all and are quite bulky. The higher quality ones he picked up on Craigslist were clearly designed for men, made to fit broader shoulders. These kinds of vests also cause problems when on is kayaking because typical vests tend to bunch up and lift to your ears when sitting inside the kayak. With a new summer approaching, and because I love to kayak, I decided it was time to look for something better suited to my frame and activity. I did a lot of searching, paying attention to both style AND price. I kept coming back to this one so finally purchased it. It arrived yesterday and fit me like a glove right out of the packaging. I was shocked I didn't even have to adjust a single strap! Obviously, not everyone will have this out-of-the-box experience, but it worked for me. ;-) The vest materials are lightweight enough and cut in such a way to allow freedom of movement necessary for kayaking, but it's also bulky enough that I have no trouble imagining that its floatation abilities would be effective. For reference, I am 5'9" and around 180 lbs. I have a longer torso (so usually have problems finding shirts that are long enough for me). ... show more

I bought my girlfriend a paddleboard for her birthday. And, where I live, it's technically required to have a lifejacket on board. You don't necessarily have to wear it, but you need to have one with you on the water. After scouring all of the local sporting goods stores, I came up empty on finding a decent paddling lifejacket. I chalk it up to a shortage of materials due to the pandemic, I guess. All I could find were either children's sizes or things like XXL. The price on this one is great, it appears to be of decent quality, and it arrived in about 5 days with free shipping. If I were to order it again, I'd probably get the x small/small size, though. She hasn't tried it on yet, but we're of a similar size and I have to tighten down the medium/large all the way to make it close to snug. I'm about 6' and 160 lbs. ... show more

Never having purchased a kayak life jacket before, I can attest that this vest is exactly what is described in the advertisement. I'm a 5' 9" woman, full-figured (wear 16/18) top. It's comfortable, even in the most dire heat. It's adjustable for bustier people and narrower/larger waistlines. I paddle for hours at a time and find this vest very comfortable! There's no chafing and the back portion of the vest fits properly against the seat of the kayak. One suggestion to everyone! Please buy a cooling towel and place it around your neck for the hot days. It fits nicely around the neck area and sits comfortably with the kayak vest. GREAT CHOICE! ... show more
