Given the price tag, one could be skeptical about the quality of these plates. The difference between these plates and the standard bumper plate is the density. Bumper plates that are typically found in very free-weight centered training facilities have more give; however, that doesn't necessarily take away from the quality of Onefitwonder's bumper plates. The solid construction of these plates almost seem more durable, but with less give from drops. I've never been a proponent of dropping weights unless it was to prevent myself or others from getting hurt. Therefore, the density of these plates hardly poses an issue. I've had these plates for about a week or two, and I've had to air out the garage a bit to get the rubber smell to circulate out. Like other reviewers have mentioned, this is a small issue, but not a deal breaker for me. It would be wise to keep these plates in a well ventilated area, but if your home gym is in a more confined area, I'd recommend opening the windows, when applicable, and maybe running some fans to alleviate the odor. The weight seems to be true, and the construction is solid. I had no issues putting on and taking off the weights from the bar.     • Great weights with a few flaws

I enjoy these new weights. They're safer for my garage floor, which is the main reason I ordered them. However, the lack of a lip on the edges of the weights make them harder to maneuver, especially if they're lying flat on the ground. By that I mean, they're harder to pick up and adjust on the bar. Not a deal breaker, but definitely something to keep in mind. Also, for whatever reason, they don't really fit my old original olympic barbell. They get stuck when you try to slide them on or off the bar. It is extremely frustrating. Instead of sending them back, I just ordered a new barbell, this time from the same company. However, it would've been nice if they had just fit my original bar. Again, just something to keep in mind. ... show more

For my purposes they work fine. I had read that they smell, but didn't believe it; I should have. They have a very strong chemical smell to them that I noticed upon unpacking them. I left them in my garage for a few weeks, and the smell has diminished considerably (Though I got light-headed every time I entered the garage for the first couple of days). They are VERY dense and do not bounce like the other bumpers I have, so if you plan on exercises which require dropping them I would suggest a different brand. I am using them in my basement gym, and I only got them to protect my foundation in the event I accidentally drop them. For that they work just fine, and for a decent price. I just hope that the fumes they initially vented weren't carcinogenic... :-p ... show more

The packaging was broken down into 3 separate packages, a 45, a 45 with 2 10's, and 2 25 lb plates. I was initially thrown off thinking I was shorted a plate, which customer service helped point out to me within hours of me emailing them. The weights themselves are accurate and fit tightly, how they should around a standard Olympic Barbell. The highlighted criticisms, that they have no handles and that the diameter is too small are some sorta poor criticisms. Eleiko and other world class weights don't have handles on their bumpers, plates should fit snugly so they don't slide around during compound movements. Great for what was paid, weights seem very durable and compared to other expensive brands, very worth it. Even after its heavy usage (squats, deadlifts and power cleans to name a few) they have absorbed a solid amount of damage without showing it. These plates aren't severely loud when dropped, are equally sized, and slide on and off well. The rubber smell is negligible; I just got horse stall mats in my gym and they reek in comparison, and aren't even all that pungent. They don't mark bare concrete, and seem very durable. The construction on these is purportedly much better than standard bumpers and I'd believe. Strongly recommend these to any lifter who's not in need of competition bumpers, which is probably >98% of all lifters reading this.
