How many gallons this unit will produce depends on the hardness of the water source. It's compact size allows it to be installed in the tightest places. It utilizes a standard hose connection between park faucet and your RV, requires NO tools or electricity and its compact design 22” h X 6.75” dia. can be easily stored in your storage bay or dock side locker. It will allow high flow rates with very low pressure drop. Travel friendly option of cap & plug to prevent leakage. Back-flush adapter is included for quick reverse connection when required. Unique, patent-pending design includes hardness test strips, storage inlet/outlet caps, handle, inlet and outlet hose adapters, back-flush adapter, high pressure 4’ white drinking hose and a full cradle base for a very secure & stable setting. I had another version of a water softener for my shower, was suppose to be good for 10 years. After 6 years, it finally said enough. Would have had to spend the same amount that I did for this one on that, only to have to throw it away again after 6 years. This On The Go Softener is a perfect size for my apartment shower. Yes, it does take up some real estate in my tub, but for the benefits that it gives me, I'm willing to work with it. Emailing the company bought an immediate response to my question on how to hook it up to my shower. It has done wonders for my eczema, to the point I don't have to slather myself with prescription creams anymore. We winter in Southern Arizona in a 41 ft. 5th wheel. The water is super hard and my hair became super dry. My shower doors became white and scaley with hard water deposits. Not any more!! My hair is so soft and no more spots! We have to recharge this every two and a half weeks. It is great because it only takes a box of table salt. Very easy to install and keep up.     • It works better than I expected
I'm camped in an Idaho State Park with the world's worst water. It's so hard, I'm sure it's bulletproof. There is so much iron in the water that it runs about 2 shades lighter than apple juice. It was staining my sinks, shower and toilet and on top of that, it smells awful. My two-stage water filters did nothing for me. At the recommendation of the camp host, I bought this water softener and added it as the last stage before my water inlet. What a huge difference. There are no odors, the water has no taste and it is as clear as bottled water. It was shipped in a rather flimsy box with very minimal packing. It looked it got bounced around a bit by UPS, so expected it to be damaged. I photographed it before opening the box and to my surprise, it was intact with no obvious damage. The O-ring that seals the cap to the bottle was not properly seated, so it sprayed water everywhere when I connected it to the system. I was able to re-seat the O-ring and connect it to my system without any further issue. ... show more

Easy to install, use and store with my fifth wheel trailer. If I was to make this buying decision again I would buy the larger 16,000 grain model because the regeneration cycles would last longer. But overall I'm still very happy with the smaller 8,000 grain model purchased.

    • Not effective
We installed the unit into our rv in April. Seemed to work fine but after a few weeks the water tested hard again, so we recharged it. Seems to only be effective for a couple of days now before it tests hard. Not worth the cost as far as I am concerned. The description in the ad over states the gallons we should get. When you receive the paperwork, it is another story altogether. We would have to waste many gallons of water every other day. ... show more

    • Better than expected.
We are fulltime RV'ers and use it with our 5th wheel. Could not believe how much better the water is after installing this softener. Really reduced the spotting on the shower door glass and we use much less soap or shampoo. Should extend the life of our hot water heater and systems.
