Directions: You can change which setting you’re using whenever you want, but it’s not possible to use different settings at the same time., You can choose between the light setting, i.e. choosing at which level of daylight the coop should open and close, time setting, i.e. setting specific times when you know your flock has returned to the coop or are ready to go out for the day. There is also a manual mode where the door opens and closes only when you press the button. On the app you can also override your current settings by pressing “Open” or “Close”. Not to mention, download the app and you can either program open shut automatically or manually. I will say it was a neat feature if you have no power at the coop it can also run on batteries. 2 year update: Still works really well, but it sometimes gets blocked by hay and dirt. When you close it on this debris, it automatically opens again, and then tries to close again. It will cycle like this a few times and will default to open. This isn't common and it's easy to avoid. Also, our chickens are not always inside when the daylight sensor goes off, and it locked out a chicken once. For this reason we're opening/closing by hand, but I would go back to daylight mode (my wife is too afraid). We have never lost a chicken because of this door, and we still think it works well and it's well made. Original batteries say they're at 85%. Original: We've had this for for about a month and we have it set to close at low light. We had to play with the perfect timing but it only took 3 nights. Seems reliable, and we no longer worry about getting home on time. There are many other automatic doors on Amazon with mixed reviews, and this one didn't come up until I specifically searched for it after reading a review saying to just buy this one. I'm glad I did. I purchased this product over a year ago and within a few months of installing it my controller went completely dead. it took Omlet almost a month to send me another one after doing some more troubleshooting through their Tech Support and now after about eight months, my controller has malfunctioned again would not shut the door and I do not know how long it has been doing this because I have now lost seven chickens and I now have to replace them along with trying to figure out how I’m going to keep up with my egg sales. This product is totally unreliable with the timing and having to be connected to the Internet in order to function properly I would highly recommend going out and buying a door from someplace else. ... show more

We have purchased 3 of these and they have made life much easier for us! No more waking up early to let the flock out and no more worrying if you’re out at night that your flock will be out up safely! Set the time to open and close at the time of your choice and your chickens will have the freedom can let themselves out and put themselves up. My only complaint is how difficult and time consuming it is to replace batteries and also there is not a way to shut it off without the hassle of taking the batteries out. We also did not like the feature that lets it open and close when it senses darkness and opens when it senses light as it left our chickens stranded both inside and outside during cloudy days or storms several times until we figured it out. Update: 15 months later and I'm still on the original batteries. And it was well below freezing and no problems with the door. I highly recommend this door. First review: So far so good!! It hasn't gotten too cold yet but it works great! Hubby put it together easily. I'm not crazy about where the batteries are on the door. I will update on how long they last and ease of changing them and how the door does in the super cold but right now I'm happy and so are the girls! Timer is only military time. Or you can set for solar. I set for time because my coop is in a shaded area and on a stormy day it gets dark. You just have to adjust it periodically. I'm still amazed I don't have to rush out there before work! The quality is excellent. I'm thinking of purchasing another one for the run for when I let them free range. ... show more

I’m honestly pretty happy with this coop door. There aren’t many out there that open sideways like this, this was one of only two I could even find. The other one I tried was a mess, packaging was rough and the whole thing felt kinda cheap. This one came packed right and feels like it’s made by folks who actually care about what they’re putting out. Setup was simple, instructions made sense, and the controls are super easy to figure out. I was a little worried about battery life, but so far it’s holding up fine. And the green door? At first I wasn’t sure, but now I actually love it... easy to spot from the window so I can tell if it’s open or closed without walking out. Overall just a solid product.
