Directions: You can change which setting you’re using whenever you want, but it’s not possible to use different settings at the same time., You can choose between the light setting, i.e. choosing at which level of daylight the coop should open and close, time setting, i.e. setting specific times when you know your flock has returned to the coop or are ready to go out for the day. There is also a manual mode where the door opens and closes only when you press the button. On the app you can also override your current settings by pressing “Open” or “Close”. 2 year update: Still works really well, but it sometimes gets blocked by hay and dirt. When you close it on this debris, it automatically opens again, and then tries to close again. It will cycle like this a few times and will default to open. This isn't common and it's easy to avoid. Also, our chickens are not always inside when the daylight sensor goes off, and it locked out a chicken once. For this reason we're opening/closing by hand, but I would go back to daylight mode (my wife is too afraid). We have never lost a chicken because of this door, and we still think it works well and it's well made. Original batteries say they're at 85%. Original: We've had this for for about a month and we have it set to close at low light. We had to play with the perfect timing but it only took 3 nights. Seems reliable, and we no longer worry about getting home on time. There are many other automatic doors on Amazon with mixed reviews, and this one didn't come up until I specifically searched for it after reading a review saying to just buy this one. I'm glad I did. Works exactly as described and lives up to every review I researched. Opens at crack of daylight and closes 1/2 hour after dark. We used to let the chickens out each day but this door is a huge life saver. Takes some coaching the first day letting the chickens go in and out of the open doorway, getting them used to the very mild opening and closing sound of the door. But by the second day they took to it like clockwork. Adjusting the time is so easy. NOTE: Always check the time on the unit before adjusting the opening and close time as it doesn't automatically account for daylights savings. If you have it close at 6pm but 6pm has changed to 7pm and you didn't notice your chickens might get stuck outside the coop lol very easy to install. Very well made.     • Stopped working after 2 weeks

I LOVED this door for the first two weeks of use. I live in the NE where the sun sets early in the afternoon. The door's light mode was working perfectly and was closing on time, until it didn't. Now the door doesn't work AT ALL. The control panel is on, has good battery, has good connection with the door, but won't communicate to the door. I'm having to manually push the door open and closed myself until I'm able to have some daylight to troubleshoot it. The manual for the system is NOT helpful for trouble shooting this - I have checked everything listed in the manual: wire connections, cleaning the track, battery power, etc. Even when on manual mode the door will not open/close even though the panel says it should be. I spent WAY too much money on this for it to only have worked for 2 weeks. Additionally, I dismantled my perfect manual door to install this and now STILL have to be there to manually push it open and closed. Disappointed is an understatement. We have purchased 3 of these and they have made life much easier for us! No more waking up early to let the flock out and no more worrying if you’re out at night that your flock will be out up safely! Set the time to open and close at the time of your choice and your chickens will have the freedom can let themselves out and put themselves up. My only complaint is how difficult and time consuming it is to replace batteries and also there is not a way to shut it off without the hassle of taking the batteries out. We also did not like the feature that lets it open and close when it senses darkness and opens when it senses light as it left our chickens stranded both inside and outside during cloudy days or storms several times until we figured it out.
