    • Works pretty good, needs to be monitored
It works perfectly when the tract doesn't have shavings on it. It should be monitored daily or raise the door so that the chickens can't drag shavings across the tract or scratch them in front of it. The door closes and pushes shavings along with it and when they build up over a few days, the door senses something there and won't close. In hind sight, I should have raised the door so it wasn't sitting on the floor. Otherwise its 100% perfect! I have a blink from amazon that I use to monitor it nightly. ... show more

We purchased this door because we live in a rural area where we often hear coyotes at night. To keep our chickens safe, we use this door. Interestingly, the chickens have become familiar with the sound of the door and now come running when it's time to go to bed.

I bought this automatic chicken coop door for my chicken coop to make sure the door was open and closed if I wasn’t home to do it. We installed it a couple months early, before our chickens are able to go outside, to make sure it even works, to check on battery life, to see if it will work in the cold weather etc. The Chicken coop door arrived pretty fast (3 days!) installation was pretty easy (Our door opening is 13x13 inches wide so we put some rubber door insulation on the places it didn’t fit just right 👍) This door comes with awesome instructions and a video link to make sure you get it right. Set up is easy. It has different settings for times to open and close so you can customize it to just what you want. It will not crush your chickens or hands in the door, there is a sensor to make sure of that. We checked on the battery life the other day and it’s still at 100percent and that’s after being installed for about a month and really cold and wet and snowy weather. It did freeze open about 4 inches yesterday because of a ton of snow and temperatures around 12 degrees, but we cleaned the ice off the runners and manually closed and opened it and it works just fine now. I’m really impressed with this door and can’t wait to get my chickens outside! Edited 8-14-2023, I really like this automatic door. I program it to open at 6:30 AM and close at 9:15 PM and it does it’s job. It took my chickens a couple months to learn that they had to get inside their house when it started to get dark outside and now I know they’re going to be locked safely inside their coop if I’m not around to check on them.(My chickens are in an enclosed run, including their house, to keep them safe from predators), I’ve had this door operating since March and it says on the program panel that I still have 100% battery life. That’s really good I think! Very happy with this automatic door. Adding to my review on 1-18-2024: I am still loving this automatic door! I checked it last night to change the closing time since we are gaining a few minutes of daylight. We’ve had this door for almost a year now and I haven’t had to change out the batteries yet, last night it said they were at 80% battery life. I’ll probably change them out at 50% just to be on the safe side. We added a rubber flap over the top of the door to keep water from getting to the door and freezing it open or shut. This door has worked through extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures, has not crushed any of my chickens, thanks to the anti crush sensor. Works exactly as described and lives up to every review I researched. Opens at crack of daylight and closes 1/2 hour after dark. I’m very confident that this will open and close like clockwork for my hens. I’ll definitely purchase other omelette doors in future as needed. Highly recommend!! We used to let the chickens out each day but this door is a huge life saver. Takes some coaching the first day letting the chickens go in and out of the open doorway, getting them used to the very mild opening and closing sound of the door. But by the second day they took to it like clockwork. Adjusting the time is so easy. NOTE: Always check the time on the unit before adjusting the opening and close time as it doesn't automatically account for daylights savings. If you have it close at 6pm but 6pm has changed to 7pm and you didn't notice your chickens might get stuck outside the coop lol very easy to install. Very well made.     • Works on timer but DO NOT buy if you want smart features
This door is great if you just want to set the open and close times and leave it. But if that was the case, I would have bought another Run Chicken. Always 100% reliable. If you want to use the smart feature connected to Wi-Fi to open and close on demand from your phone, DO NOT BUY IT. It disconnects from Wi-Fi after a few hours and does not automatically reconnect. You have be next to the unit to reconnect it to your phone. I’ve had to do this countless times over the last month. I have had several close calls where I wasn’t able to close it from my phone at night. Luckily no predators found my chickens. Very stressful. I have several cameras around my coop and they have no problem staying connected to the Wi-Fi. I spoke to a customer service rep and she is sending me a new control panel. I’m hoping it will work better with the Wi-Fi but I don’t have much confidence at this point. ... show more
