When I opened the box, I actually gasped and said "Oh my God, it's beautiful!" The picture doesn't do it justice. This clock is substantial in size and weight. The wood is beautifully finished and the chimes sound full and rich, even with the volume down. The gold trim and clock face give it some pizzazz without looking gaudy. And it has a seven year warranty - who does that anymore? The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the inadequate "Quick Start Guide". It advises that you can turn the switch to 4 different chime styles, but doesn't tell you what they are. I contacted customer support and got a response within 24 hours. Here's the answer: 1. Ave Maria chime and hourly strikes, 2. Westminster quarter hour chimes and hourly strikes, 3. Westminster chime and hourly strikes, 4. Bim Bam hourly strikes. I asked them if the chime can be turned off totally and haven't heard back yet. I also had an issue with the chime striking at night instead of during the day (it stops between 10:00 and 6:00). The secret? Set it up in the morning, not the evening. As it begins at 6:00, it will then chime for 16 hours (daytime!!) and stop for 8 (nighttime!!). Hope this helps! ... show more

    • Good looking precise timepiece.
The clock is very precise and easy to set. It is quite nice looking and readable. The only downside is that an electronic chime can never match a mechanical chime. I've used the volume control to help by turning down the volume. Were replacing the chime batteries and noticed the top edge of the finial flower did not look finished. Check out the photos here and realized most of the flower is gone. What is left is the height of the clock top. Must have broken off in shipping! Customer service is outstanding! I talked to Amazon who told me to talk to the source and provided links to them and to my receipt they would need. Sent off email that night b.v and had response asking a few questions. Sent picture of damaged area. Received email saying new clock being sent. This was Tuesday before Christmas. New clock was here Christmas eve Thursday. I raised my rating from 4 stars to 3 stars to 5 stars! ... show more

    • PATIENCE !!! but fantastic clock
Mary’s comment from December 22, 2018 was an absolute godsend !!!! When I first received my Clock and followed the directions to set is it 5:58 O’clock and then put the batteries in and at 6 o’clock it was supposed to chime six times but it chimed two !!! That was the beginning of my frustration ... I then took the batteries out and reset of the 5:58 o’clock And when it struck two times at 6 o’clock I pushed the red button and then it chimed three times I pressed the red button again etc up until the red button caused the clock to chime 6 times and then VOILA !!! Since I set the clock in the evening I may find that it is off and chiming late at night as it is actually set to not chime between 10 PM and 6 AM so I will just reset it in the morning HAVE FUN ... show more

This clock is as advertised. The chimes sound beautiful. I liked that it has a volume control as well as a setting so the chimes don't ring at night. Great clock for the money.

I love and collect clocks, and this one is absolutely beautiful in every way. I was somewhat dubious when other reviewers said how great the sound is, but they were right. The chimes are pure, clear and resonating. For the price, it's a steal!
