  • Fun but not the best quality
Kids liked experimenting with it but it’s not that scientific of a microscope. Great for younger kids who have a love for science though.

  • Great microscope but ability to take photos is lacking
Bought the microscope to ID dinos in a marine aquarium. Wanted to take pictures and upload to a group to help with the ID. I have an iPhone with 3 lenses, and the phone mount has one hole. I would line up the lens, and when I put it on the scope, it would switch to another. Not a problem with the microscope mind you… that worked great! But the inability to take a picture prevented me from proper ID. I did keep the scope, as I found it to just be fun to have. ... show more

  • Good for the price
Color: Black
I’m an eye doctor and got this microscope to investigate the prevalence of demodex eyelash mites on my patients eyelids. At first, I wasn’t sure this scope was sensitive enough to detect them. But after playing around I was able to get what I needed. I do wish you were able to move and manipulate the slide L/R & U/D with a knob or fine tune adjustment as opposed to having to physically push it because doing so was reorienting my specimen. But it does enough of the trick to be able to say “yes - present” or “no — other bacteria”. Would be neat if they could include a small booklet on advanced staining of specimen and maybe some small bottles of dye to do it yourself. If they had a product like that I would go back to this company to purchase those items. ... show more

  • Amazing for price
The media could not be loaded. I got this microscope because I love science and I always wanted one. I couldn’t afford a bigger, more expensive version so I got this and it did great. My only complaint is the amount of dust that was in the stage lens and the lack of helpful directions. It does give basic instructions, but for an adult who has not used a microscope since they were a child, they may not remember *anything* about it and the instructions are not detailed enough for beginners. For instance, I could not figure out why I couldn’t see through the eyepiece. It turned out that I didn’t know the additional lens had to sit inside of the eyepiece. The dust was so heavy that I could not see my samples good at first but I managed to clean it with canned air. I’m giving 5 stars because despite the 2 issues I had, the abilities of this little microscope is amazing and well worth it. The photos I’ve attached are: (2 of Old Ted provided samples): small intestine & mosquito. Salt speck. The video included is: a sample of rain water from my backyard. It’s AMAZING what you can see with this! ... show more

  • This Old Ted microscope is amazing!
I love this microscope! It is so easy to use and you get so much for your money. It is an amazing product I am so happy that I got it. The prepared slides are amazing and look so cool, the lighting is really good and works perfectly and the instruction manual is super easy to use. I love everything else about it too. If you are looking for microscopes to get, I would definitely suggest getting this one! ... show more

  • Quality for the price.
This microscope kit is top-notch in my opinion. I like the weight and features. First time of use I used camera adapter and took a photo as well as shot short video of these microscopic organisms I found at the end of a tile drain on our farm. They looked like tiny shrimp. Thank you for your great product. Steve ... show more

  • Better with phone
I read a review that mentioned IPhone issues with multiple lenses. I have two lenses on my iPhone 10 and it was simple to select one and the holder covered up the other. The quality was actually better with the camera than with my eyes.

  • Good basic microscope
I’ve had this microscope for several months but just recently opened it, as it was purchased in advance for a birthday. My #1 issue is that the 40x objective is terrible. For anything needing magnification less than 1000x, this has been a great microscope for elementary science. It’s pretty basic but I think they are upfront about that. I still find myself wishing that I could move the stage horizontally rather than adjusting the slide itself, because that is so imprecise. Overall I know it will be used but I will likely have to upgrade in a couple years ... show more
