    • Great value for the money, but don't expect full lumens rating
I wanted so much to give these bulbs 5 stars. At first glance they have everything I was looking for in a smart bulb: Ease of install, ease of app control, an absolutely fantastic price point, and a wide range of colors, color temperatures, and brightness settings. And at this point, two months into ownership, that's the current headline: Five stars, A++, would buy again. However, I must dock the product a couple of stars because the rate of failure I experienced in that first month was unreasonable. Perhaps I am an outlier (and honestly, if you heed my advice you will likely steer clear of my issue, thus making me more of an outlier... which is my real hope with this review). I bought 16 of these bulbs for my game room / office. Set up was a breeze. Within an afternoon, I had all 16 bulbs up and running, zoned appropriately, and synced with voice controls via Siri shortcuts. Almost equally quickly, the bulbs started failing. My first bulb died during the first 8-hour workday, with 2 more dying the next day. Of the 16 original bulbs I purchased, NINE failed within the first month. When the ninth bulb failed, I grabbed it immediately and noticed that it was blazingly hot. These bulbs were simply overheating because white LED light uses the most energy to produce, I hypothesized. At this point, I stopped using the bulbs at 100% brightness for any white settings. I've been running at 80% brightness when using white light and haven't had a bulb die since. This is with at least 8 hours a day of white light usage. I still use 100% brightness when using colors and haven't had an issue there as of yet. If you buy these bulbs, you must consider this trade-off when you're using white light: You either get all the lumens you paid for with 100% brightness and watch the bulbs die prematurely, or you run at a reduced brightness and not get all the lumens you paid for but you can use them for a reasonable length of time. I highly recommend these bulbs with the following caveat: Do not expect to get full lumens out of them. If you run them at lower brightness settings for white light, you should be extremely happy with your purchase. After going through the returns process (which was also a breeze and highly recommended) and getting my 9 failed bulbs replaced, that's where I am today. ... show more

    • Easy to Use and Set Up, Wish there were more settings and customization allowed
For the price and quantity, these were excellent and I ordered some for our home and some extras as gifts. They were really easy to set up and have had no problems connecting to our wifi once they were set up. The app is really easy to navigate and always works well. I do wish there was more customization. You can make timers/schedules, and you can turn it on/off from the app, as well as change the color (and there are a lot of colors) but they have some 'theme' selections in which they can be turned to a type of party light (fast flashing through a few colors, slow flashing, slow fade, etc.) however, you can't customize the colors for these themes. I wanted Red and Green for Christmas, but to use a theme where the light goes back and forth between colors you have to use their preset colors, which don't really have a theme and are just random. I wish you could select the colors. Also, the bulbs are very white. They have a warmth adjuster and I have to set them all the way to as warm as they can get so they don't hurt my eyes (regardless of brightness setting) because I can't stand pure white/daylight bulbs. Because there is so little warmth in this lightbulb at least half of the color selection I cannot use because it isn't warm enough. I love the color blue but all the blue selections are like a white blue and it gives me a headache. So overall, these were good, just could be a little bit better.     • Works well but picky on phrasing with Google
Update, two years later: Three of 16 of the bulbs have failed in two years' time and a 4th is starting to fail. Two just stopped coming on one day. The third would flicker and show incorrect colors before failing. The 4th is doing the same thing. All of the lights that failed were in recessed fixtures so I think that heat probably was a factor. Overall they have been good value for what I paid for them. They are about twice as much as they were when I purchased them 2 years old. When I start replacing them I will most likely look for another brand. Most of these cheaper smart bulbs are about the same. These have adjustable white light and the colors are decently bright. They are easy to set up and you can use other apps other than the recommended one on the box. The only problem I have run into with them is that Google is very picky about telling them what to do. For example, you can't tell them to be a color and expect them to just turn on. You have to command these bulbs specifically to turn on. I have some other bulbs that you can just order a color to and they automatically turn on. Likewise they don't like to do multiple actions at once. You need to specifiy what bulbs needs to do what. I think this is probably an issue with Google more than the bulbs, as Alexa doesn't seem to do it. Overall decent bulbs. ... show more

    • Great for a single light, terrible for multi-bulb rooms/applications. Amazon App spotty.
I ordered 2 boxes of these to add to the house after testing in a few lamps. Light respond to Alexa 90% of the time when use din a single application (1 lamp for instance). However, when you try to use multiple bulbs for one application (think - all the bulbs in the dining room) this is where the experience is lacking. Most times not all bulbs respond, leaving 1 bulb a different color or turned on. Frustrating to say the least, particularly when you're in bed already! When using the app to change color or power on/off single bulbs, it works great, when doing so with what they call a group, or multiple bulbs at once, doe snot work as well. I have the same problem as stated above with Alexa - only some bulbs respond. ... show more
