  • Ordered Smallest available set for my growing daughter...should last YEARS. Nicer Lookin in person!
Color: White+Blue Size: 21"(80-120lbs)
Ordered the WHITE/Light BLUE set in smallest available size (support weight, as she's nearly 100lbs). I'm STOKED to have these, so we needn't borrow from friends anymore. SUGGESTION to seller: it is known to keep the wonderful included poles separate from the metal claws of the shoes (since they shipped separated, also)...it'd be rather easy to design the carry bag with an inner pocket, or at least straps outside the bag for carrying the poles. SO MANY tool bags are designed as such, and it's a minor thing that goes a long way in protecting the gear, AND making the user grateful for the thoughtful, easy, touch! ;) I'd probably have given these 5 stars, since it was THAT close already! Another helpful thing to get 5 solid stars is competitive pricing. When there are many options at the same price point, it's hard to pull in over 4 stars. ;) Substantial build, nice look, competitive price...I'd recommend for others; I watched for a great sale price to find some for our kids, in different colors--these fit the bill so nicely. :) If this review helped ya, kindly give me a thumbs up so I know if they're worthwhile. Enjoy! :) ... To aid being concise, if reading any of my reviews henceforth, you can know these things UNLESS I state otherwise: It was made in CHINA, and stars are awarded as follows: ~1st Star: Arrived Timely and Undamaged ~2nd Star: Unpacked, Item was As Described and Complete with all Expected Contents ~3rd Star: Performs and Does as it should ~4th Star: EXCEEDS Expectation/Surpasses (personally-known) Competition ~5th Star: I would RECOMMEND to my family and best of friends any and every time, without hesitation. ... show more

  • A great entry-level set to get you on your way.
Color: Blue+Black Size: 30"(160-250lbs)
I’ve committed to be more fit and active during the winter season to make February less painful when it’s time to trim down for Spring. One of my more sadistic friends has encouraged me to join in his hobby of snowshoeing. I don’t know why one would do that when they could just hop on a snowmobile instead. Or just stay home and drink hot chocolate for that matter. Oh well. To each his own. I ordered the 30” size because I am 5’6” and 170 pounds. I am a novice to all this so I don’t know that my opinion should carry much weight. However, my friend is a little more experienced and we inspected this gear together. The snowshoes were impressive in their build quality yet they are very light in weight. While I don’t have experience with these, the construction seems solid by any manufacturing standard. In full disclosure, it has not snowed yet here in northern Arizona, however after a dry run on the lawn, everything fit, moved and held up as expected. Walking in them is definitely an acquired skill. All the buckles and rivets and connections remained firm and secure. They felt about as comfortable as snowshoes can feel. The ratchet system makes adjustments easy. The poles are light and feel good in your hands. I love the colors I picked. Very bright and vibrant. Although, maybe not the best color for search and rescue teams. If I had to offer two criticisms, it would be these. First, the bag is very, very thin. They come packed with thick cardboard to keep the cleats from cutting anything. My fear is that the bag won’t take much abuse at all. Be super careful how you repack them in there and maybe keep the cardboard, although it will quickly become soggy if you pack the snowshoes immediately after use. It’s definitely not commensurate with the quality of the rest of the kit. My other concern is the clamps on the pole. They work great and securely held the legs extended, but they open very easily. If you catch them on something, they’ll flip open and you’ll have to stop and mess with them. Not enough to take away a star, but just something to consider. Overall I am super happy and looking forward to putting them to use. Kinda. ... show more

  • nice set
Color: Blue+Black Size: 30"(160-250lbs)
My hubby goes snowshoeing with the boy scouts every year, so he was glad to have his own pair instead of borrowing some. He had not had a chance to use them yet but tried them on. He was confused about the one part as his foot didn't seem to fit it and the instructions didn't mention it. I looked it up on the page, and it is meant to go under the foot to be raised under the foot to help avoid leg pain, this would have been nice to include in the instructions, but at least we did find the information on this page. We'll see how good they are when he goes to the Adirondacks in the early spring. ... show more

  • Good for casual walking in a park, not for serious winter hikes
Color: White+Blue Size: 21"(80-120lbs)
Got these in the smallest size for a young boy, and he'll enjoy using them once the snow builds up. The included three-piece telescopic poles with snow baskets and rubber tips are a bonus - the pole lengths can be easily adjusted with the two cam locks which hold tightly. The snowshoes are fairly light, and the aluminum frames seem sturdy enough. The weak point on these appears to be the plastic deck and especially the riveted straps that attach the deck to the frame. The bindings are very nice - they pivot under the ball of the foot like they should, and the two ratcheted straps over the instep are easy to tighten (even with gloves on) and hold they foot snugly. It would be nice if the heel strap had the same kind of ratchet; instead you have to pull it through a loop and fasten it back on itself. The crampon style teeth under the feet help get a grip in icy conditions, and the "televator" heel lift flips up easily and would be useful for long uphill pitches to keep your foot level. Having said that, I wouldn't be comfortable doing any serious winter climbing in the Adirondacks or Green Mountains for fear of the plastic tearing apart under stress, miles from civilization. But for some casual snowshoe hiking in parks and nature preserves, these would be perfect. ... show more
