My 2005 VW Jetta GLI with a turbo has taken to about every six months kicking on the “Check Engine” light. I take it to a place like Auto-Zone and O’Reilly’s and have them read it and rest it. It always comes up P2181 – Cooling System Malfunction, yet the temperature gauge never deviates from being in the exact middle of the proper range. I have them reset the status to “off”. Six months later this repeats. A VW mechanic said it is the sensor that sends the signal that is malfunctioning. I spent about $150 to have that sensor changed. Three months later the Check Engine light comes on, the code is P2181 for the fourth time. This time they didn’t reset it for me. I don’t like driving with a Check Engine light on. This Check Engine light coming on always occurs when I go out of town to the West, and at about the same location. It has never happened traveling East, North or South. I think it is a radio station to the West of me that is causing it. I picked up this OBD2 scanner/reader to verify that what kicked up the code was P2181 and be able to reset the check engine light myself. The scanner is fast and convenient, I keep it in the glove box and use my iPhone to read and see that it is P2181 and then reset it so that I will know if the problem is something other than P2181. ... show more

Waste of money do not buy if you own a f150. Does not turn on so there for you can not link it to your Bluetooth. Just go to your local auto store
