I have plenty of road trips for work where I couch surf instead of paying for a hotel. I also have a tendency to pack an inflatable pad and sleep on the floor rather than taking a bed if I’m staying in a hotel with colleagues. (I’m unabashedly cheap; what can I say?) I picked this bag up because it was much smaller and lighter than the mummy bag I’ve used for camping for years, plus I needed something lighter for when I’m camping in the summer (in Texas). This bag definitely gives me the foot room that a mummy bag doesn’t, and it’s super easy to vent your feet as much or as little as they need. …but I also wanted to be able to roll over easier, and this bag (kinda) doesn’t do that. I’m not a huge guy, but I’m not small, either. At 6’2” 205 lbs I have plenty of height in the bag, but it gets a bit tight around my torso. If my arms are down at my side the bag is almost pulled tight around me; I can’t have my arms crossed across my chest. …but I’m not sure how much of a problem that actually is, in practice. Remember, the bag is more than long enough for me. I can be inside *and* tuck a pillow in the top and my feet still have room. So what I find is that more often I unzip the whole bag, use it as a blanket, and tuck the edges underneath me. Most blankets are pulled tight on me if I tuck them both over the top of my shoulders and under my feet. This thing just fits. You can still regulate your temp well and it tucks underneath enough that you still have almost 360 degree coverage. …but at the end of the day I now only have a really useful blanket, not a sleeping bag. This may be a problem next summer when I want it for camping over my mummy bag again. We’ll see. ... show more

I've used this on a navy ship in the west pacific, for about 2 months, where temperatures reach 40'F. This baby kept me warm throughout extremely cold nights. I tested this wearing just underwear in my rack, using it as a 'blanket', not zipping it up, and woke up in the middle of the night completely warm.     • This is a 1-season sleeping bag, IMO.

This sleeping bag has a lot of nice features. It's light weight. It has a no-snag zipper, so it doesn't get caught in the bag material. There is velcro to keep it from unzipping while you sleep. It's VERY roomy. However, it is not "warm" in the sense that it would do well as a stand-alone sleeping bag in any season except summer. I just used this for a 2 night camping trip in the hottest weeks of August in the PNW. The night time lows were in the 50's and it was quite chilly for a couple of the coldest hours in the wee-morning. I would NOT want to be using this bag in the fall-spring where evening temps are below 50, for sure. I had a second, thick fuzzy blanket tucked inside of it and even with that I was a bit chilled, but comfortable for the majority of the night. Just know that if you are camping in cold weather....this is not the one. The material and batting are both very light. The material is also slick inside and out. But a great little summer bag, which is when I go camping the most anyway. ... show more
