Excellent product when you’re actively using it to hold a rod while untangling line or dealing with a fish. Unfortunately it tends to get in the way and snag fly line when trying to cast and stream side vegetation when hiking or entering rivers. Especially so when relatively new to fly fishing. The new solid belt loops keep it from falling off and getting lost as mentioned in previous reviews. Angle adjustment is reasonably easy and works well. I tried the "Smith Creek Rod Clip" and it dropped my rod to the ground and broke my reel. That would have ruined my day if I'd been fishing instead of practicing my cast and if I spent real money on my reels I'd be crying. This device works much better, keeps the rod out of the way, can be moved about around your belt to stay our or the way of a sling bag (I've discovered the Orvis Guide Sling Pack which finally seems to do the trick). ... show more

Going flats fishing and needed a extra rod caddie. This one clips onto belt, can be used to carry extra rod vertical or horizontal, and has stretch cord to secure the rod. Allows me to fish with one rod, without being in the way, and change rods when required. I'd hate to be wading the flats for bonefish and spot a big permit and that rod is in the boat.
