My husband and I live on the lake. After getting a new kayak we decided to finally get PFDs to be extra safe, but mostly to be able to float when getting out of the kayak and into the water. And if we ever go somewhere more dangerous obviously PFDs are necessary. After researching we saw this vest listed as a good choice for kayakers with plenty of space for arm movement and not too bulky on the back where you sit. My husband is 5'10 and 170ish pounds, almost 42 inch chest- the large fit perfectly. He tried it out on the paddle board with a kayak paddle and was able to paddle very easily. It fits snug but comfortable. I pushed him off the board into the water (he asked me to) and he was able to float and move much easier in the water. Overall, I'm very happy with these vests. I have bought 12 of them in various sizes. For some applications, I prefer neoprene, but that is hotter to wear unless you will actually be in the water or doing active watersports. For boat riding and general safety, these are cheaper and do the job well - especially for "guest" vests. Sizing is tricky as these (and most other) life jackets tend to run small. This is a very nice lifejacket. Spendy yes, you get what you pay for, and you'll probably never need to get another after buying this. With our without an undershirt its comfortable and above all else doesn't ride up. WIN!

I am disappointed that the size chart has only chest measurement. Because it gives no waist size, I am having to return and replace the item with a different size. That said, the vest seems like a quality product.
