    • High-quality, single source, mild but pleasant flavor.
I am not an expert on Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO), but I've spent a lot of time learning about it and I've tried many of the top brands. O-Live is really good value for money. As any good olive oil should, this one comes well packaged and in a dark bottle to protect the contents from oxidation. The oil all comes from a single valley in Chile, which is a good indicator of quality, and it is cold pressed. The flavor is on the mild side, and not nearly as strong as other more expensive EVOOs, but it is quite pleasant and its lower price makes it an easy choice for day-to-day tasks like salads, dressings, and breads. For cooking I often use a cheaper EVOO because cooking tends to break down the flavor anyway. I also use cheap EVOO when I make home-made mayonnaise. Conversely, when I make a special meal or otherwise want the EVOO flavor to stand out, I choose a more expensive from Gaea. Gaea oil is a lot more tasty than this one, but it is also a lot more expensive so I only use sparingly. Yes, I have three different brands of EVOO at home. I like EVOO :-) ... show more

    • EVOO? O-live deserves five-stars for a reason!
I gave this product five-stars because it is far and away the best EVOO I have used. I didn’t grow up in a family that ever purchased or used olive oil, so once I learned about its health benefits I decided to “join the crowd” and give it a try. I soon discovered that not all olive oils are created equal! Strong in taste, sometimes a bitter after-taste. I did not find any that appealed to me, so, still wanting to actually enjoy using it- I decided that it was time to get back to basics. I began to “learn” about olive oil.. and there is a LOT to know before deciding which olive oils are good and which to avoid.l With that knowledge as a basis for making the right choice- I finally found two brands that met my criteria. O-live won! I prefer the Everyday variety because it is light and fruity. Good in any recipe and when mixed with a tiny bit of a healthy canola oil (Trader Joe’s is my choice being one of few that is cold-pressed) I am able to use it for sautéing and frying. One issue is the cap was faulty. I had to transfer the oil into a different olive oil bottle. The oil is nice. Good for cooking and for eating on baguettes.
