  • Keeps my 13700k cold at 35c
Style: Kraken 2023 Size: 360mm Radiator Color: Black
The NZXT Kraken 360 is a liquid CPU cooler designed for high-performance cooling in desktop systems. In this unbiased review, we'll evaluate its various aspects to provide you with a comprehensive overview. **Cooling Performance (4.5/5):** The NZXT Kraken 360 offers excellent cooling performance, thanks to its 360mm radiator and powerful fans. With a larger surface area and efficient liquid cooling, it's capable of keeping your CPU temperatures in check even under heavy workloads or during overclocking. It's a great choice for users who demand top-tier cooling capabilities. **Noise Levels (4/5):** While the Kraken 360 provides impressive cooling, the noise levels can be a bit of a concern. The included fans can get a bit loud when running at full speed. However, this can be mitigated by adjusting fan profiles through the software. At lower speeds, the noise levels are more acceptable, but if you're looking for a whisper-quiet system, you may need to make custom fan curve adjustments. **Build Quality (4.5/5):** NZXT is known for its quality build, and the Kraken 360 is no exception. The cooler features a solid construction with a durable pump and radiator. The tubes are flexible yet sturdy, and the overall build instills confidence in its long-term reliability. **Installation (4/5):** Installing the Kraken 360 can be a bit more involved than air coolers, especially due to the radiator and fan setup. However, NZXT provides clear and detailed instructions, and most users with a basic understanding of PC components should be able to handle the installation. The mounting system is secure, ensuring proper contact with the CPU. **Software (4/5):** The NZXT CAM software is a crucial part of the Kraken 360 experience. It provides comprehensive control over the cooler, allowing you to fine-tune fan speeds and monitor temperatures. The software is user-friendly, but some users may find it resource-intensive. It's worth noting that you'll need to install the software to unlock the cooler's full potential. **Aesthetics (5/5):** The Kraken 360 is known for its aesthetics. It features customizable RGB lighting on the pump head, allowing users to match it with their system's color scheme. The RGB effects are vibrant, and the pump head design is sleek, making it a visually appealing addition to any build. **Value (4/5):** The NZXT Kraken 360 is positioned in the premium cooler category, and while it offers excellent cooling performance, build quality, and aesthetics, it might not be the best value for users on a tight budget. If you're willing to invest in a high-end liquid cooler with top-notch features, this is an excellent choice. **Conclusion:** The NZXT Kraken 360 is a high-performance liquid CPU cooler that excels in cooling capabilities, build quality, and aesthetics. It's an ideal choice for enthusiasts and gamers who prioritize efficient cooling and want a cooler that looks as good as it performs. While the noise levels at high fan speeds could be a drawback for some, the overall experience and customizability provided by the NZXT CAM software make it a premium cooling solution for those willing to invest in their PC setup. ... show more

  • Underwhelmed - Why do people love this thing?
Style: Kraken X Size: 240mm Radiator Color: Black
I purchased this AIO because, as the pump blocks on these types of units keep getting taller, this one is one of the few best remaining options for the Lian Li A4 H20 case. In general, the cooler is fine. One of the other deciding factors in buying this one is that it has been rated by many tech reviewers as one of the quieter units at a normalized temp available in the 240mm form factor. I have to say that my expectations were really high given the reputation this thing has in the PC building community and I am pretty underwhelmed by it. Here are some of the issues: 1. The mounting on this is not necessarily difficult but when I was mounting the pump, there was quite a lot of play once seated over the bracket. That meant that this thing was sliding all over the place as I was trying to center it and tighten the screws with one hand. I am pretty sure that messed up the pre-applied thermal paste. 2. I basically have to get a tube of thermal paste and reseat this thing. You might call it user error given above but if this unit takes two people to mount correctly (so one person can hold it in place while the other person deals with the hardware), then that is a design flaw IMO. Regardless of whether it is the quality of the pre-applied paste or I mucked it up on install, it just isn't doing a good enough job cooling. The result is higher temps than I am really comfortable with and the fans reving up ALL the time, making this not as quiet as I was expecting given the reviews. I will report back after I do a fresh install. 3. The included USB cord for the pump block is way too big. I am building in on an ITX platform (as many people are these days) and the cable presses against the first RAM Dimm. This is a commonly reported issue and I knew it might be a problem. I was less comfortable with just how much pressure it was placing on the RAM than I anticipated. Given the price of this thing, I don't see why NZXT doesn't just throw in some right and left angle cables or just use those by default. For me, I was mounting this with the tube junction on the bottom and needed a left facing cable to avoid the RAM. That cost me an extra $10 for something that should have been just dealt with in the design of the product. If you are reading this and looking for a solution, Duttek makes right and left angled cords that work with this unit. 3. This one is small but I never see anyone mention it, so I will. The NZXT logo in the middle of the infinity mirror is actually on top a rectangular rod that juts out from the middle of the pump block. This means that if you view the unit from an angle, it covers up the rings and it looks really dumb. If you want it to look great, you have to turn the computer to view from head on. I am realizing that tech reviewers do that all the time to make their shot look clean but they never mention this aesthetic issue for potential buyers. Not a big deal, but an unexpected 'issue' for me. Is my CPU cooled? Yes. Does it look good doing it? Yeah pretty cool. So, it checks those basic boxes. But I shouldn't have to buy a $10 cable to make it work on ITX. It shouldn't be such a struggle to center on the die. I should have to spend $10 on thermal paste to make it cool properly. I shouldn't be contemplating buying $60 of Noctua fans to make it quiet enough. All these issues make me a little bitter. When I bought my last AIO about 8 years ago from NZXTs primary competitor in this space, I had no problems with the install and that thing ran perfectly off its pre-applied paste for like 5 years. I will likely be going back to them next time around unless better options present themselves. EDIT: I can confirm after pulling this thing out and reapplying thermal paste, that the current pre-application that they use is just insufficient for recent CPUs, which have a larger die than when this cooler first released. When I pulled the cooler, I hadn't significantly marred the preapplication. It simply wasn't enough to cover the CPU. Put some Arctic MX-4 on there and the cooler stopped ramping up all the time. One last thing I forgot to mention in the original review: When I would set the pump to higher RPM in the Cam software, I got really loud coil whine. That might be just my particular unit with my particular board, but it seemed important to mention. ... show more

  • Decent Product, with some bugs.
Style: Kraken 2023 Size: 240mm Radiator Color: Black
I purchased this over the elite to save a few bucks, because I didn’t think I needed the big screen. However, when loading GIFs, it is majorly cropped. So I just leave the temperature up instead. It does have a few bugs. Occasionally it will display the CPU/GPU temperature as 00. Also, it occasionally freezes at a temperature on the display and my fans will ramp up or down, and I can tell it’s not displaying the correct temp. A quick restart of the NZXT software usually fixes both these bugs, but it occasionally warrants a full system restart. The pump is very quiet. However, the cables to plug it in are kind of flimsy, and I didn’t want to bend them too much, so I couldn’t cable manage like I would want to. I replaced the fans with Lian Li fans, so I don’t know if the stock fans are any good. If you are looking for a basic AIO with a display, this will work just fine. But if you want to add GIFs to make it more fun, I would opt for the Elite instead ... show more
