  • Strong and Sturdy!
Though the gate comes slightly larger. I was able to cut the excess off to fit my opening. Though not easy and as it was thick I was able to put it in a vice and cut it off with a sawzall. It is great and my partner likes it. I would highly recommend it. The door has no problem carrying the wood as I see no drag, so the door hinges are strong. I would say when you build it bring a rubber mallet with you so you can get the proper spacing for the holes. ... show more

  • Good and easy to install
Material looks sturdy and looks good. Size is tricky, you need about 1" to 2" wider opening then in description otherwise you have to be creative. The seller WILL NOT PAY FOR SHHIPPING return. I bought the wider gate and it did not fit because it needed an inch wider opening. So I ordered this one. But before I received it I figured away to modify the posts for the wider gate to work. I was able to install the gate flush with posts and therefore it worked. I tried retuning this one, and even though it was still unopened they refused to pay for shipping. It cost me 60% of the price of the gate to ship it back. My advise is only buy this if you have a wiggle room in the opening size. You can easily change posts or install flush or something. You do not want to pay for shipping back but you will if it does not fit or if you changed your mind. Nonetheless, I do recommend it because of easy of installation and it looks good. Just be ware of their expensive ship back policy. ... show more

  • This will NOT Fit a 1 inch thick wood board
It's almost impossible to Assemble, I bought this frame as a DIY project and now I regret going through the trouble of putting it together, I've spend more time and money trying to find ways to make it work than if I would've just bought a complete new fancy gate. I tried the T&G Boards that I saw in a review above and they are not working for me either. This type of boards need to be handle with care and between the pressure lip in the frame and the rubber muzzle to apply pressure will destroy the boards. If you are not a carpenter or have skills and tools for a project like this, avoid yourself the headache and money pit. ... show more

  • It's tricky but it will work with 1x6x6 privacy panels
When using 1x6x6 privacy panels you will have to rip one of the panels or the holes will not line up for the corner screws. We had 2 holes that wasn't bored out good enough so we just cleaned up the hole with drill bit and screwed fit in perfect then. If you have to rip a board put the gate together and then measure from the corner premade hole to the rail premade hole to get the measurement of what needs ripped. Ours was off 2 1/4" looking at the picture you can see right side is ripped shorter. There was no video online to help figure this out, so I hope this helps. If you have to do anything differnt to the gate like we did it does take a lot longer than 15 minutes. ... show more

  • Very good
This doorframe is super good and well made. One thing I have to say, it needs a little bit not whole a lot of talent and skills. Definitely not for kids to assemble. But overall all really happy and satisfied with it. I’m glad I bought it.

  • Needs some work
First, the product arrived a mess!! The rails were poking out of the box on both ends. I kept it because they didn't appear damaged but turns out the rails were basically crimped at the ends. Let's just say it was a real joy trying to open the rails enough to slide wood into slots. UGH!! There were a few choice words while I tried to pry them open. JS. The instructions leave something to be desired. They don't explain how the rails have to fit into one another on the corners or which one fits into the other. NOTE, rails are all of 6 feet tall which, means your fence better be above 8 FEET or you will be cutting rails and adding new holes, yes - my fault. I misread and thought this was to fit a 6 Foot fence, not so. But it does now. LOL Also, the 5 pieces, you will have to cut one in order to get the corner rails to slide into each other (not in the instructions). You will also need to add some sort of support in the middle of the gate that you can attach to the wood; otherwise, the wood warps and bends - some go out some go in (not a good look). I cut a piece of wood and screwed each wood slat into that wood to give it middle support. Now, it states it fits the 35-1/2" opening, it does, but expect at least a 1" gap on the side you place the gate latch which, isn't a great look either! So, I added 6x1 wood board on both posts, for aesthetics, so the gap isn't so bad. I found with the gate latch at the top, after the first snow fall it pushed the bottom of the gate outward putting undue pressure on the latch and distorting the gate from hanging corrrectly. I can't fix this yet since it is winter and very cold. But I plan to add a center latch in hopes that will balance the gate better. I previously had a center lock and never experienced that problem. I got the gate with the arched top. Well, the holes for the arch are slightly small for the screws provided so the first screw just broke off. Yay! So, I will have to drill the holes wider to fit the screws and get a replacement screw. Yes, ladies this can all be done alone but after some frustration and struggles, I gave in to the constant "just let me help, I told you not to buy this on-line" rrrrghhh.... afterall two is SO much more fun, so we can argue. LMBO!! Annnnnddd just for the record, HE was more mad about the lack of instructions for the corners then I and refused to believe ME when I said "they must have to slide in together and the wood is going to have to be cut". JS!! All said and done, I do like the looks of the gate. It is sturdy. The price is right. Maybe if they read my comments they will make some minor modifications, with the instructions, screw holes, latch placement (or options) and include a support cross bar for the wood slats. Oh and don't forget add the disclaimer in the instructions that you take no responsibility how it works out when two decide to work together. ;o) ... show more
