We love this ice maker. It produces what I could call hospital or chik fil-a style ice. The nice small, chewable nuggets of ice. Operation is super simple. Pour in the water and turn it on. Within 3 minutes we had ice being made. After about 15 minutes of making ice you have to either move the ice around or empty the hopper. If you move the ice, that will buy you another 10 minutes before you will have to empty the hopper into a bin and put it in the freezer. Now when you freeze the ice, it all freezes together. So make sure you have a metal ice scoop, ice pick, or old knife to break it apart. Once you break it apart it will stay that way until you add freshly made ice. While it is not whisper quiet, it is not loud either. Does it make some noise...yes. Is is distracting? No. It just background noise. Overall, you cannot go wrong with this ice maker. I purchased this product since the ice maker in my fridge is having issues. The unit is compact so it was easy to find a convenient location for it. I read the instructions and they were very easy to follow and had the unit running very quickly. Once I added water and selected ice cube size, (either small or large) the cubes started dropping into the tray. It's been a month and the unit works quietly making ice. The only thing some might have an issue with is that once the ice is dropped into the basket, it is not chilled so if you leave it there long enough it partially melts. I don't have an issue with it since my refrigerator fills that role and at this price point I think it's still a great value! I would highly recommend this unit for anyone looking for an additional source of ice at home. ... show more

It's a great ice maker. Fast. Doesn't need to be filled with water often and we use it. Great chewing ice. Looks sleek and classy. Downfalls. It's loud. Not when dumping ice but when it is just sitting there. There is no way to keep the lid up. Design flaw. And you have to push the ice out of the chute. It doesn't do it itself. Design flaws. I took a risk on this item because I have someone in the house that, due to surgery, needed Sonic-sized ice cubes that were easier to chew. I should have just stuck with buying bags of ice from Sonic. First of all, the claim that it makes <x> amount of ice in <x> amount of hours total is true, but misleading. The problem is that it makes a basket of ice at a time, and that basket is the size of your hands palmed together. Put your two hands together and make a cup like you were going to splash water on your face. That's how much ice it makes before it tells you the basket is full. Are you going to dump that basket every time it's full? How many trips to this ice machine to fill up a bag of ice? But ok; I can deal with that, because of how I'm using the ice in the first place. One person, chewing ice. Don't think this is the solution for parties of 4 or more people, because you will be disappointed. I would give it 3 stars for this. This is why the item gets 1 star: I bought this item/arrived January 19th. March 1st, it stopped producing ice and was overheating; consequently the ice inside melted. The machine gave no indication there was a malfunction; no warning light or anything. It just stopped working. Unplugged it, let it sit to cool off, plugged it in, and still the same result. Multiple attempts at this. Today is March 4th. Still a no-go. I would not recommend this item. I would not buy this item again. I'm glad those that have had success are happy with their product. I love this thing. It made ice in just a few minutes. The basket fills quickly. Easy to fill with water and the indicator lights tell you when you need water or the basket is full. Fairly quiet also. It's not the biggest basket but I can fill a 40oz cup with ice easily. Also came with ice bags to stock up if you need a lot of ice for a cooler or event. ... show more

It's a great product. Makes ice fast. Though if you're an ice eater like I am you'll love the little bites as their soft and chewable. I use Spring water to fill the tank as well. You can take this machine anywhere as it doesn't weigh much either. Instructions are easy to read and no complications. It seems sturdy as I've had no issues in that area. Its okay. Disappointed in the quality of the ice. It's not the real "nugget", slushy, soft ice. Although it's still chewable, it's just tiny ice cubes. Plus side of that is it doesn't melt as fast. Also, it doesn't make nearly as much ice at a time as advertised. The basket and reservoir only holds enough for two good cups at a time.
