  • Solid. I’m impressed! Definitely happy with this purchase!
Color: T09
I don’t always trust the reviews. When the reviews are too good, I figure they might be ringers. I was skeptical & wondered how the quality would be. But this thing is solid. I’m very happy with this purchase. I’m probably going to buy one for my daughter to keep handy in her car, too. ***Update: I went ahead and had one shipped to her. 😊 There is an instruction fold out. But, I didn’t spend much time with it. The flashlight was easy to figure out. Each time you long press the power button, it toggles between 3 things: the torch, the side white light and the side flashing red light. Once one of these 3 is selected with a long press, each short press toggles between the different options for each light: 1) Torch has 3 options: Full Bright, Half Bright & Strobe 2) Side White Light has 2 options: Full Bright & Half Bright 3) Side Flashing Red Light has 2 options: Fast Flash or Slower Flash The lights are bright and work great. The construction is solid. And because of the solid construction, I have no doubt that the seat belt cutter and the window smasher will work well. My finger doesn’t even come close to being able to slide in to get cut. And I don’t think a child’s finger could fit either. The magnet is very strong. I briefly plugged in the USB connection both ways. Charging the flashlight was working. But I couldn’t tell how fast it was charging. **UPDATE There is a flashing red light next to the USB ports on the bottom of the flashlight (under the compass) to indicate that the flashlight is being charged. The red light stops flashing and stays on when the battery is fully charged. After It was full, I unplugged the charger. Then later, on two occasions, I plugged it in again. Both times the light stayed on with no flashing. So the battery didn’t leak any of the charge during non-use of the flashlight in that amount of time. It stayed fully charged. **A few days later...I have now tried this multiple times. The red light has not started blinking any of these times to indicate that it is charging. The flashlight apparently stays completely charged with non-use, at least for several days now. I also sampled charging my phone with the flashlight. That was working too. And, it went from 69 to 70 to 71% in fairly good time. I’m gonna try a solar charge. And if it changes my rating, I will update my review. **Update: I left the flashlight sitting on my bedroom window sill with the solar panel facing towards where the morning sun would be shining. There’s a green light that’s on when it is able to charge with sunlight. When I checked it in the afternoon, it wasn’t getting direct sun anymore and hadn’t for awhile. And the green light was still on to indicate that there’s enough sunlight to charge. No idea how fast it’s charging or when it’s full. But, the solar charging function seems to be working. And, it does not need direct sunlight. ***After letting the flashlight charge by sunlight on my window sill, I plugged it in to charge with usb. Light indicator next to the usb charge port reflected that it was already fully charged with the solar charging. I didn’t buy it for the compass. But, it works. It’s pretty much a standard, simple, manual compass. It would definitely come in handy if your other options (like a cell phone or a better quality compass) aren’t working. It moves towards north. But I usually have to juggle it abit to make sure it’s loose and moving freely. I think that’s pretty standard with a simple manual compass like that. I certainly wouldn’t want to be in a position where I’d need to rely on the compass. But, it does point to north and definitely would work in a pinch. But, again, I didn’t buy it for the compass. I was more interested in immediate type car emergency situations... being able to smash a window, cut a seatbelt, see in the dark and alert other traffic or maybe shine a beacon. And, I do feel confident having it handy for such emergency situations, God forbid. It will definitely be very handy to have for other situations too: car repairs, electrical outage, hiking, etc. Btw, it shipped quickly too, even using the free shipping option. It even arrived on Sunday, which I found odd. I think I’ve received a shipment on Sunday before. But, I thought that was a holiday thing. Pleasantly surprised. I skipped over the less expensive ones with the not-so-great reviews. I also avoided the ultra expensive choices. This one has more of what I was looking for anyway. I’m very happy with this purchase. I think you probably will be too. I hope my review helps. ... show more

  • Heavy duty... bought another one!
Color: T09
I was so impressed by this flashlight that I bought another one for a friend. I was surprised to see that you can connect your cell phone to the USB port under the compass cap and you can charge your cell phone with the battery from the flashlight. I don't know how much it will charge the phone, but it will definitely let you make an emergency phone call. ... show more

  • doesn't solar charge
Color: T09
Bought this specifically because of the solar charging capability. I would leave it on a south facing windowsill at camp for several weeks and used it on weekends for maybe 2 minutes a night total. eventually light got dimmer and dimmer until it finally just cut off. charged fine with USB port and works well otherwise. doesn't seem to be getting any power from the sun even though green solar charging indicator is brightly lit. seems that the better the sun power the brighter the green indicator and yes, it was a south facing window and we've had plenty of sun in the last few weeks. ... show more

  • Awesome
Color: T10-2
I like to take a flashlight with me when I travel and have one next to the bed. This is the best one I have found so far. Many options. Battery lasts forever. Very well made. The police lights are really cool. Hold this out your window and watch the cars pull over. LOL

  • Incredible Value | Buy This Light!
Color: T10
UPDATE: Tornadoes have been frequent meaning often having no power at night so I brought this flashlight indoors for one day. That next night I tried using it and lights would only come on for about one second before going dark regardless of mode. I set the light out in direct sunlight for the next two days thinking it would recharge but it did not improve at all despite the green charging indicator being clearly illuminated. Only after plugging it in for hours until the blue light quit flashing did the light become useable again. I expected the internal battery to last at least one day but it does not. I must have received one with a faulty battery but I've had it now a little beyond the return window. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This torch is very impressive. I have compared it side by side with three 1,000 lumen Nitecore lights like the SRT7 Revenger and MH27. Only the latter seems brighter, really only noticeable at great distances where the Nitecore remains brighter at longer distances than the NPET. I was very skeptical about purchasing another solar flashlight after having very disappointing experiences with two HybridLight solar lights. Even their newest model simply won't work and the company never replied to my requests for assistance. This light impresses me in multiple ways. First, it is as bright up to at least two hundred feet as my 1,000 lune lights. It makes no sense but that's what my eyes see. The spot of the beam is broad and the halo is as well. No artifacts, dark spots, or anything other than perfect smoothness and consistency in both parts of the beam. My guess is that the bulb in this light is in the 5,000-6,000 Kelvin range, a very pure, bright white. There is no tint of yellow or blue like headlights, it is a very pure white. My eyes like the warmer color of the Nitecore torches, finding it easier to see more definition with them than this light, but I have no complaints about this one's color temperature. Scrolling through the functions is simple. Tap the power button and the beam comes on at full power. A second tap puts it on a dim setting. A third tap engages a fully bright strobe. To access the other features you just hold down the power button. In fact, if you keep the button depressed it will continuously scroll through each feature. The second feature after the beam is a lantern at full brightness. It illuminates from the solar panel area lengthwise on the handle and throws brighter, farther, and wider than a cell phone's flash light. A tap of the power button makes the lantern dim. Holding the power button until the third feature engages turns on strobing red and blue emergency lights. These also illuminate from the solar panel section. While the handle located LEDs do not throw light very far, they are bright to look at. The only issues I've had are that within a couple days of ownership some of the black anodizing is already coming off. And the removable collar that is intended to keep the power button from being accidentally pressed does not cling tightly to the light. Not like it will just fall off while holding the light, but even slightly bumping or rubbing against it will knock it off. The rubber plugs that seal the charging ports are flimsy. They don't provide a firmly sealed sensation and can come open easily. Despite these issues the value of this light is incredible. I now like using it better than my other lights. The wrist strap is very nice and even has a quick release. I've not had an opportunity to test how long the light can function without recharging but have seen no fading with up to a half hour of constant use in the brightest beam setting. It would be nice if the lantern and beam features could be engaged simultaneously and if the light came with a belt clip. Again, at this price point it is hard to complain. The compass has a bubble level built in so you know you are getting an accurate reading without the dial hanging up by making contact with the inner walls. There are multiple audible alarms built into this light. When the compass is left attached to the light the alarms are not very loud. As other reviewers have mentioned, removing it lets the alarms project much better. Some sounds are alike a phone alarm and some sound more like emergency beacons. This light is a little heavy and large for an EDC but these tradeoffs are worthwhile. The green LED in the solar section is bright enough that you can easily tell if the light is charging. The panels are very effective, charging even from indoor lighting. I highly recommend this light and will likely be purchasing more as gifts. ... show more
