  • No additives
Size: 27 Servings (Pack of 1) Pattern Name: Nutrition
This product contains 24 g of protein per serving, has no additives or fillers or sugars. In fact, the only ingredient is yellow pea protein isolate. As such, it doesn't taste great. It doesn't taste bad, but it's a little bit like sawdust. I don't mind it at all because it does the job and I can down it really quickly. However, my doctor recently told me I needed to take vitamin c with my iron pill to help it absorb. So I've started mixing a half a cup of orange juice into this (protein powder, water, orange juice) and it's simply delightful! I recommend this if you're looking for something efficient, vegan, with no crappy sugars or flavorings or fillers added. ... show more

  • Ummm what's up with the crazy price increase?
Size: 10 Servings (Pack of 1) Pattern Name: Nutrition
Okay, I'll start out by saying that this is my first review. I have previously used Whey Isolate for over 15yrs, until I realized I was lactose intolerant about 3 years ago and that's when the hunt for vegan/plant based protein powders started. I have purchased this item in the 12oz & 2lb both a couple of times each and 7lb I think 4 or 5 times. The product itself is good. Its a very fine powder, milled more finely than other plant based/pea powders I've tried in the past. Its best when used in a blender, as it this will get out any clumps (this tends to clump up if not mixed well) If you are new to this type of powder and are looking for something that tastes great, this is not it. Its bland, with no taste. To mix until smooth you have to use a blender, as I do. I mix with greens and fruit in AM and either almond milk, + powdered PB or fruit in PM. I enjoyed this product for its ingredients as it did not have artificial sweeteners, of artificial flavoring and the price point was great. I purchased in bulk because it was something I used every day and it kept the price per ounce down. I just went to reorder when I realized they increased the price considerably. My jaw dropped a little, not gonna lie. I've been subscribed to this item the price I paid was $40. The price currently is $66 for one time purchase and $56 for a subscription. I'm sorry but $16 increase in 2 months??? WHAT??? Unfortunately, I will have to find another protein powder to stock up on, and spend my money elsewhere. I'm really disappointed ... show more

  • Good addition to a variety of proteins
Size: 27 Servings (Pack of 1) Pattern Name: Nutrition
I use several different proteins including Soy Isolate from Now Foods, Hemp and Raw protein. I was a long time user of many different whey proteins until I became Vegan, so I know my proteins. This was my first experience with Pea Protein, but not with Now Foods. The powder & mixing: The scoop is about 1/4c I believe. It's not a ridiculous amount of powder for a shake as opposed to the soy protein isolate at 1/3c. It mixes fine in a blender, if you're used to using proteins you'll understand the slightly grainy texture afterwards but it's become a normal thing with almost every protein I've tried. No big deal. It does seem to have a thickening quality though, so when it's mixed with soy milk it's nearly impossible to blend in a shaker cup. I add water with soy milk to make it easier. 9/10 I'll use a blender instead. The taste: Guys, this stuff is pretty gross TBH. I've had some crappy tasting powder before so I wasn't shocked like a lot of the reviews here. It's protein not a DQ milkshake. With that being said, it is kind of a challenge to find things to add to this shake to make it palatable. I have a very sensitive palate so I tasted it over chocolate almond milk, banana, PBFIT and almond extract. It wasn't disgusting but I could taste it. I still use the protein, I'm not completely turned off by it because it adds variety to my protein intake. This pea protein is a great addition to my supplement menu. Sticking with 1 kind of protein for a Vegan just doesn't make any sense so I have one shake about every other day or so and it does the job. There's no added flavor in this so that means no added sugars, dyes, preservatives etc which totally makes up for the slightly off-putting flavor. Eat to live, not live to eat. ... show more

  • Body Building
Size: 27 Servings (Pack of 1) Pattern Name: Nutrition
I am Vegan, so I look for alternatives to Whey Protein, Egg Protein, etc. And from recent studies I want to decrease my Soy intake due to the presence of estrogen it contains. Don't get me wrong, the Soy Proteins have helped me increase in size, but I feel that being a man consuming estrogen may be like taking two steps forward and one step back each time I workout while consuming Soy. And for all you Whey Protein lovers you should know that whey is unhealthy for all humans' intestines plus it is an inflammatory substance, so if you are wondering why your stomach bloats or you may have gas, now you know why. Now that you know a little where I'm coming from I can tell you what I think about Pea Protein. Chemically and biologically this is one of the best protein molecules your body can use. It is naturally balanced to digest very easily in the human body and almost no one has an adverse reaction to its consumption. However, I am the type of person that doesn't care much for the original V8 drink, or tomato soup; and from all my concoctions of trying to mask the god awful taste of this Pea Protein it seems like tomato juice is the only thing that can mask 80% of the horribleness. I even tried putting it in Pace salsa and this helped mask 80% as well, but gave the salsa a gross sludge texture. In other reviews I read that people had issues with the grittiness, but I had no problem. It mixed really well in my $30 blender. Make sure you add the powder last so it doesn't get stuck under the blending blades. If you make shakes with almond milk, peanut butter, a banana, and chocolate syrup like I do, you will not like this Pea Protein. Even with tons of ingredients I can still taste the weird disturbing Pea Protein flavor. For anyone that doesn't know what it tastes like, I would describe it to be almost exactly like what you would imagine wall putty to taste like. And I am not exaggerating, it really does taste like it's from the hardware store. And there is a hint is geriatric medication to it as well. There is an off-putting wrongness about it that after a full week of attempting different shakes, I have begun to start dry heaving after taking a sip. The container now sits 3/4 full in my cupboard until I find a friend that needs protein powder and likes tomato soup, so they can try mixing it in that. If you have experienced this as well, you may benefit from the #1 protein on the planet "Spirulina". A "super food" that is a little more expensive than all other proteins and tastes like unsalty seaweed, but goes well with black beans and flaxseed chips, or mixes really good with fruit smoothies, just turns it a dark green color. My taste buds can handle it very easily. Spirulina is proven to be the best absorbing protein the body can use. And it takes less digestive power than any other protein source, so I feel like I have more energy now. As soon as my store bought supply runs out, I will most likely buy this organic package Organic Spirulina Powder 1000g (2.2 lb), Bulk Pure Fresh, By HerbStoreUSA from Amazon. ... show more
