  • NORVELL RECOMMENDATION: Athletes are professionals, often investing many years in preparation to compete. Norvell recommends a trial session of spray tanning routine 30 days prior to any competitive event. Immediately prior to a competitive event the contestant can apply additional color where needed with our retail product - Norvell Competition Tan Competition Stage Color Creme, 8.5 fl.oz. This product is designed for use in all airbrush/HVLP systems regardless of manufacturer.
  • PROFESSIONAL TIP: The DHA will begin to activate within 2-4 hours after application. Do not bathe, shower or sweat for at least 8-hours after application. Avoid chlorinated pools for 18-hours. Brown cosmetic bronzers will wash away during first shower. Full DHA results develop within 18-24 hours. Results should last 5-7 days. The use of nose filters, eye shields, protective under garments and lip balm are recommended before applying sunless spray to body.
  • SPRAY TAN SCHEDULE FOR COMPETITORS: Wednesday (6 pm) - initial full body spray tan, Thursday (6 pm) - warm water rinse only, Thursday (7 pm) - 2nd full body spray tan, Friday (7 pm) - warm water rinse only, Friday (8 pm) - final full body spray tan and continue to coat until desired color is achieved. Warm water only rinsing between spray sessions is recommended to avoid any unwanted stripping of color.

I purchased this product solely for my clients who are looking to be super dark. I use an organic all natural line that is perfect for fair skin, however it does not give that dark deep tan that some of my clients prefer. So I purchased black out per request of a high end client who needs to be really dark under show lights. I have tried this product 3 ways: Straight by itself. Mixed with Norvell Venetian and Double Dark and then mixed with my current line. Alone I found the product to look really orange within two days, a few clients find that blackout leaves them blotchy (snake like looking skin) Mixed with Norvell and Black out was good but not the tone I was looking for Mixed with my organic line PERFECT!!!! I am getting that deep dark tan without the orange Blackout does cause my clients to feel a little bit more sticky than normal, so I allow for extra drying time. No harsh or overbearing smells. I absolutely will purchase this again to MIX. I have not tried this product as intended for body building just yet so I cant comment on that. I absolutely love this color. Mind you, I am Irish pale as it gets (ghostly looking) and this still looks great on me. I usually use Venetian plus, but wanted to go a bit darker for the gym (I lift weights and want to see muscle definition). The Venetian plus is almost as dark but has an olive undertone which I like. But this one just gets really dark which I love. I also use the Norvell pH balancing spray prior to spraying FYI. The best thing I can say to achieve best color is you have two options: option 1) spray two coats black out solution first day. Wait 24 hours and QUICK wash off water ONLY no soaps. Then spray ONE more coat. Next day wash off and you'll be fine. This will get you very dark. NOTE: I personally like the box better than the bottle. It's easier to turn the nozzle on and off to dispense into sprayer. Just remember to dab the nozzle with a tissue after you turn off as it will drip. But after one dab it'll be fine! :) can be stored on a shelf or under cabinet in bathroom as I store it. I've attached some pics of the coloring of using this solution. I used a before pic too so you see how ghostly I am and that it still works wonders!!!! ... show more

I've used several different kinds of Norvell products. This seems to give me the best color results, nice deep bronze/brown tones. Only draw back is that it does not really last more than a day.Make sure to read instructions.(It is supposedly meant for body builders who compete) I shower first then spray on, let it dry for about 15-20 min. Make sure to spray evenly and not to close to your face! You should be good to go! ... show more

Great color, and much more natural and darker than the regular competition tanners like jantana etc...I only give four stars because several coats are needed, and I have not yet tried all the "bodybuilding" mixes from the more reputable or more expensive mainstream tanning companies

GREAT stage color. We did 2 coats 2 days before competition. Another 2 coats the day before. And 2 coats the morning of competition. Color was perfect and my clients were some of the only competitors who's color did not melt off on the stage under those hot lights. Highly recommend.
