    • Helping My Eczema, SADs, Acne and Vit. D Deficiency!
I suffer from SADS, eczema and Vitamin D deficiency, so my main purposes for this were health-related. I also don't like using sunscreen, and like to have a base tan during the warm months to protect my skin. Because my skin type is kind of in-between types, I can take a long time to really build a tan--once I get a bare minimum base, I can spend an hour in the sun a day trying to tan and still not see progress. Trying to tan outdoors took up too much time, and left me with tan lines. This tanning lamp was the solution to it all. I started very slow, maybe 3 minutes a day, and standing from a farther distance than they tell you (18"). I went slow at first since it's currently winter, and due to my desk job the past year, I was extra pale. Even so, I did get very slightly red a few times in the beginning. It's been two months now, and I've finally worked my way up to 15 minutes a day safely. However, I still keep a little more distance (just to be safer about skin cancer). I don't have a good setup at my house at all for this type of thing, but I make it work. I use it in the bathroom, where I just barely have enough space to set it on the floor and use it. The lamp being able to tilt makes it easy to tilt up to get all of me. I tan nude, and rotate a few minutes on each side, and I don't have any tan lines. Because the lamp has to be used on my floor, I'm not getting as drastic a result as I'd like, but that will change once I move and get more space. All in all, it works really well for me considering how I have to use it. Since using this lamp, I have gotten a little more energy, I'm slightly less depressed, my acne clears up more easily, my eczema on my face isn't as bad, and the little bit of color I've gotten has gone a long way for my skin. It was a big purchase, but it's been absolutely worth it. I'm on a mission for wellness, and this has helped get me to a point where I want to do better for myself. Using it before a workout can even help give me the energy to get through it. The lamp is built very well, and seems like it will last a long time. The goggles are good for being able to see your surroundings while tanning, unlike typical goggles. However, I usually use my spare pair of goggles, since they're slightly smaller so I get less of a pale ring around my eyes (but again, those have almost no visibility, so the ones included with the lamp are good if you may need to see things around you). I have to pick this up to move it from storage to the bathroom every time I need to use it, and it holds up very well to the constant movement. The only thing I need to worry about is tightening the sides every once in a while, as they get lose and the tilt doesn't hold as well then. If you don't move or tilt it very often, you may not need to worry too much about this. The lamps all put off an even amount of light, so I trust their items are made with consistent quality. The sperti sunlamp has become part of my post shower routine and I couldn't be happier, LITERALLY. Yes, it's expensive...BUT not when you compare to the cost and inconvenience of the alternative of going to a sun tanning salon. This unit packs the power of commercial tanning lights without taking up the space of a tanning bed. It is made of solid, almost entirely steel body, stand, and protective grid. It comes with power cord, two pairs of eye protection, and a guide that gives excellent advice on your exposure schedule. I don't like the idea of using chemicals or skin products meant to help tan, or preserve the length your tan will last. My routine is to shower, towel off, put on the eye protection, set the timer, sit on a pillow in front of the lamp and turn ON the switch. After a few minutes I just spin around to my sides and back, before standing up get my legs, front and back. I opted to start with very short sessions, knowing I wouldn't see any tanning. But the effects on my mood were immediate. The light activates your body's ability to generate natural vitamin D which has helped my mood. Some people take D3 supplements, but most of that is excreted and never absorbed. With the sperti lamp, your own body creates the vitamin D and absorbs it. It helps me maintain a better mood. After 3 about 4 weeks of use (skipping days and short sessions), I am no longer pale with a slight tan and a big smile. ... show more

    • Really Impressive Machine!
I hardly leave reviews unless I'm upset, but I made the decision to review this I've because I am trying impressed. I really didn't think much of this device and figured it would be a cheaply made 'toy' that wouldn't meet my expectations - but boy was I wrong. This easily maneuverable device really packs a punch, and works so much better then I thought that I now only need to use it twice a week for 5 to 8 minutes to keep a deeply, nice darker tone at all times. I got compliments from friends and family on my tone as well, as others noticed a more youthful, healthy look which was really surprising.
