As the photos I’ve included show, this is substantial rope. I requested it for arborist work — mostly pulling — but I have no doubt it’s also appropriate for the other activities specified in the NorthPada’s listing. As also shown in my photos, the rope was shipped coiled neatly inside of a matching stuff sack, which was in turn sealed in a plastic compression wrapping. Needless to say, it arrived in pristine condition. My first impressions included that this rope compares favorably with other arborist rope I’ve used and is surprisingly flexible for new rope of this diameter and tensile strength. Which is to say, it ties easily in the knot configurations I use most frequently. The woven cover is tight and appears durable, and the long internal strands are packed tightly, as well. That said, I haven’t used it for climbing, so can’t attest to how well the woven cover resists the resulting localized forces. Most of the similar work rope I use is undyed, so I wondered whether the bright orange cover would take some getting used to. But now that I’ve literally seen the advantages of the increased visibility, especially compared to natural-color nylon rope that has picked up stains from the ground and from bark tannins, I’ll be sticking with the high-vis option in the future. Turns out, bright is good, and this rope is very bright. I’ve no way to test the tensile strength of rope with meaningful accuracy, so I cannot comment on that other than to say it feels every bit as durable as rope of similar size and specs that was priced much higher. The packaged rope weighed approximately 5 pounds according my scale, and to me, it works like a low- to moderate-stretch rope, so just right for my applications. ... show more

I bought a rope from Lowes about five years back. I always liked the rope. It was soft and easy to use. But I noticed that there was dust coming from the inside as if some of the material was breaking down. I store it in my hot Florida garage so I’m sure that didn’t help. Anyway, I needed to replace it so I ordered this from Amazon. It’s much harder than I was expecting. It reminds me of ski rope but thicker and harder. I have no doubt it’s very strong - just wish it was a little more supple. ... show more

I needed to get some larger tree branches cut down that were threatening to fall onto my house. Over the years, all of my other rope has all but given up being rope anymore. I needed something durable that could hold a good deal of weight, and this rope easily fit that bill. I was able to get it tied off to a healthier piece of the branch to be cut, and got the other end secured to the ground. After cutting the branch from the tree, the rope did a fantastic job of holding the cut piece in place until it could be lowered down. I would love to try it out with rock climbing, but where I live there aren't really any rocks to climb. There are some large speedbumps scattered about. I could try it out with some tree climbing though, but my upper body strength leaves a lot to be desired. I couldn't be happier with this rope, however. With its bright coloring, it makes it easy to find. It is smooth enough to not cut into your hands when using it, and the convenient carrying back holds it perfectly fine until needed. ... show more

Finally, a rope I can actually trust. This rope has a working load of 2023-pounds, and for the price, you can't beat it! I ordered the 60-ft rope; however, they do have a 90-ft version as well. The bright orange color is great if you are using this for climbing and need to see your rope (and be seen in an emergency). One plus is the oversized storage bag. Once you unwrap the rope the first time, it never coils up as small as it did the first time, but this storage bag gives ample room for it. ... show more

    • Well Made STRONG Braided Rope Helped Fall a Tree

I needed a STRONG lightweight rope to help me control the direction of a tree that I cut down and this rope worked perfectly with its 2,645 lbs tinsel strength. I'm sure that it will be superb in climbing or using for an anchor line but I had a different use for it. I was able to tie a weight on one end of the rope and throw it over a tree limb about 25' above ground. After I removed the weight I tied a loop in the end of the rope and passed the other end through it. Then I pulled the line tight to the limb. Next, I tied the free end of the rope to my tractor and backed away putting some pressure on the rope and pulling the tree towards me. The rope is 66' long and neither me nor the tractor was in the path of the tree that I was about to cut. So with the tight rope and the tractor brake set, I cranked my chain saw and got to work cutting the tree down. I know this is an abnormal method but the tree was not balanced and would have crashed into a beautiful pecan tree had I not changed its fall. The rope did the trick! ... show more

Although advertised as "climbing and caving" rope, I would not use whose strength and durability is not authenticated by a 3rd party for any activity to protect life or injury. The construction is outstanding! the core is made of about 50 small nylon twisted floss pairs. The shell is flat plaited nylon, strong and abrasion resistant. It takes knots well but really shines when used as a long, support line. Super design and construction. This is a great static line. Not supple but super strong and abrasion resistant. ... show more

The rope seems good quality but the rope was wet when I got it, regardless of the plastic it is sealed with. Somehow there was moisture in there. I imagine they wrap it in plastic to avoid that....
