  • Does the job so well that I just ordered another two !!
So, a 12ft tubular steel gate that has always dragged really awkwardly in the QP of our driveway now glides open and shut effortlessly on an air filled tire with a spring suspension. Make sure that you use blocks to lift the gate as high as possible, fit the wheel so that it will both take the weight and stay exactly where you attached it to the gate, remove the blocks and enjoy the results. ... show more

  • Great wheel
Was what I was hoping for. Works really well.

  • This one is for you tinkerers
Unless your conditions are quite forgiving, you'll need to replace the tire. What you're buying here is the mounting bracket and the suspension. Those are reasonably heavy-duty, so I don't feel like this was a waste of a purchase. Still, I had to replace the tire with another pneumatic tire when it rotted. The second tire also rotted (our ground conditions are challenging), so I replaced that one too, this time with a solid polyurethane tire. Now the ride is a bit rougher on gate open/close, but I think it will last longer and I got tired(!) of failing tires. P.S., even while the pneumatic tire(s) hold out, you'll need to air them up periodically. I saw that someone posted a picture of a TSC-type solid gate wheel (no suspension), the type that does not spin because it is mounted perpendicular to the gate itself. We went through 3 of these, they all broke apart after a few months. Their construction was simply not sturdy enough to handle the weight of our gate, or our ground conditions. This product, by contrast has lasted beautifully, except the tires. Hopefully, now that is sorted out. If you're just running back and forth on asphalt/concrete and your gate's not too heavy, you might not have to replace as many tires as I did. The caveat (mentioned by others) must be mentioned here as well: there is no way the tire will be able to spin freely if the bracket is mounted flush to your gate. Not unless your gate sits high enough off the ground that the tire can be below it, somehow. I had to create a stand-off, much as others have described, then use some threaded rod/allthread and some coupling nuts to make the included u-bolts long enough to reach. I also added in a third u-bolt of my own, the mounting frame is drilled for 3 of them but only 2 were included with the hardware. The end result is not going to win any beauty contest but it does the job and that's what I care about. ... show more

  • well built, strong, but does not work for me.
The gate wheel is almost exactly what I needed. Very robust. But the wheel extends well beyond the back of the bracket so it must have about six inches of clearance below the gate to swivel, which it must do. It is too heavy to pay postage back so I will probably place it via Craigs list. It would probably not even work as shown in the photo showing it attached to a gate - for show if the nuts were tight. The clearance height required should be specified in the description. ... show more

  • Good quality
Used this on a farm gate To make it easier to open and close. Very strong and well made. Wouldn’t recommend trying to use it on rocks or gravel as it hangs up . Great over dirt, or hard smoother surfaces.

  • TIRE RUBBER SPLIT IN JUST A FEW MONTHS. SELLER REPLIED THE WARRANTY FOR 45 DAYS
There are so many better options out there - Do not waste your money with this company. Their product is shabby, after just a few months the rubber tire split right down the side. When I asked the company if they stand behind their product they said they warranty the product for 45 days. At that point get ready to replace your gate wheel 6 to 8 per year. If they're not going to stand behind their product why would you invest your time and money into their products. So many other options like the 3rd picture. Buy a solid rubber tire instead. Super simple installation too. ... show more

  • Awesome wheel for a heavy gate!
I bought this wheel to go on a metal frame farm gate that my husband had screwed 8ft pickets on. It is a 14 ft wide gate and probably weighs 200 pounds. It works perfectly! It is easy to move back and forth and we have small rocks for the path under it. I would recommend this wheel and at a great price too! ... show more

  • heavy duty gate wheel
Excellent wheel - we are using it for our 16 foot steel tube farm gate and it works great. We have a concrete driveway so I am not sure how it would hold up to rough terrain but the construction is very heavy duty.
