    • Easy to use brewing kit!
So, I've never brewed before. I figured it'd be really difficult and would be something I'd have to tinker with for quite a while. Not so! This kit came with some very easy to follow instructions and really good and useful tips. They go about telling you how to mix everything, where to store it, how to check if it spoiled, etc.. The kit also doesn't force you to buy their own proprietary products to make another batch, it simply just tells you what you need, and what to replace once you're done. Mine is sitting in my closet, brewing away, so when it's done, I'll hopefully come back and leave a review on how it went! I'm happy I went with the kit, super easy, not a bad price and really gives you an idea if this is a good hobby for you, without spending a couple hundred bucks. ... show more

Received the glass little big mouth bubbler and contents to make the IPA. Unfortunately when filling the bubbler with HOT tap water (per the directions), it cracked. Given this is a glass item, this stuff happens, but was disappointing. What was NOT disappointing was the excellent customer service I received when I contacted the seller. They responded back to me promptly and replaced the glass bubbler with a plastic one. Further they provided me with additional hops content as we had started the process (not sure how the original one will come out given I only had a 5 gallon bucket handy for 1 gallon of beer!). I am very pleased with the courteous tone, the quick response, and the fact that this company went above and beyond what I was hoping for. I bought this kit last year so my boyfriend and I could attempt to brew our own beer. The kit is great, and we used both the provided written instructions as well as their youtube video to work through the steps. The beer turned out great! We eventually moved across the country and had to leave this kit behind, but we recently purchased one of their five gallon brew kits to start making a larger amount of beer. I bought this with some trepidation about whether I could really make beer that was good. I've cooked for years and always follow new recipes exactly the first time. So I approached this the same way and followed the instructions exactly. After I put the beer in the fermenter I wasn't really sure what to expect. It started bubbling the 2nd day and a large foam formed on top of the liquid. After a week the bubbling had completely stopped the foam subsided. I had the fermenter in a cabinet in my basement which was around 68F. The next week there wasn't much to see as it lay looking dormant. At 2 weeks I bottled the beer. A week and a half later I tried one of the beers and it tasted great with a good head on the beer. It tasted to me very similar to Big Sky's Moose Drool. I will definitely be making more beers. Norther Brewer's kit was great. I made sure to tighten the spigot and test it for leaks. I had to put quite a bit of pressure to get it tight enough. I did mess up a couple of bottle caps before I got the feel and now it's pretty easy. I highly recommend this. ... show more

Hands down, this is probably the coolest thing I've ever bought from Amazon. I just got it and I'm already plotting who all is getting one for Christmas this year haha! The equipment is so high quality, and it comes with everything a beginner could need (except a pot, but as long as you've got a big soup/stew pot lying around, you're set). It's easy to set up and use, and even this total noob could understand the instructions. I really loved the branded pint glasses...it just seemed like a really nice bonus. Having the bottles and everything included as well was super cool. I've already started my first batch, so I'll be cheersing all of you soon! ... show more

    • No customer service from northern brewer
The lid for the fermenter doesn't create an airtight seal so this is pretty much useless. Also the hole for the stopper is flimsy and the stopper pushes right through the hole. Contacted northern brewer and they refused to help. Thankfully Amazon is correcting the situation.
