Pros- Easy to use, detailed video demonstrations, great customer support! Cons- difficult to follow guide. This mead making kit is awesome! I am super excited to taste my mead tomorrow. This is a great gift for anyone who is looking to purpose a father or husband or anyone really. I had such a great time throwing all the ingredients into this jug and making some mead! All of the materials were professionally boxed and the all the parts were included as listed. No issues! My only complaint is that the written instructions provided do not do the bust job at explaining how to make the mead. I got confused on a degas step and ended up painting my ceiling and counters brown from a massive foaming error. Fortunately the company has a video with detailed steps and this was much easier to follow. Turns out I didn’t degas the mead enough and I dropped a little too much nutrient at one time. As advertised, this kit is a fun and easy way to get into fermenting. The equipment is reusable, so I definitely plan on trying something new after I bottle my first batch of mead in a few weeks. My only criticism is that the airlock that they provided was way more fragile than it should have been, as it cracked up upon me delicately putting it into my carboy, so I had to Frankenstein it up with scotch tape to make it stop leaking, but that did the trick. Pretty sure I can piece together this kit for cheaper, my own ignorance led me to buy this kit assuming it came with the honey as well (it does not), thus I was originally fine with the price. However, the instructions are clear and well written, step by step. I won't buy this again, but I will reuse this kit to make more batches of mead, and purchase additional equipment for cheaper elsewhere. ... show more

You can do mead making for less cost, but this kit got me started on mead making and was worth the cost for a straight forward way to start. The mail carrier was not gentle on delivery and the racking cane was damaged. I contacted Craft A Brew, they asked if anything else was damaged, that I could still start brewing without the racking cane, and they had a replacement part in the mail the next day. I'll be upgrading as I continue mead making, but this kit gets you started easily. Great company and very responsive. ... show more

The instructions are well written and easy to understand and it comes with everything you need. I saw a video that recommended this kit for beginners and I'm impressed with the quality. The only negative was that the airlock arrived with a crack. It still holds water but I was hoping to get multiple uses out of this kit. UPDATE: Kyle, the founder of Craft a Brew reached out to me directly and asked if I was the person who gave the review about the cracked airlock because he could only see the first name on the review. When I said I was, he apologized and promptly shipped me a replacement. I can't say enough about this outstanding customer service! To track me down and offer a replacement was above and beyond. Most sellers would have been happy with the 4 star review but Kyle went out of the way to provide 5 star service and earned a life long customer in the process ... show more

Both packages arrived on time with no defects or damaged parts. I started my first batch Wednesday and the directions included are very easy to follow and the videos are very helpful. I'm very happy with how it started. Ended up getting a 2nd kit that just arrived today and started a 2nd batch that will be a peach melomel. So I've been dying to try to make mead for years and honestly even though it doesn't look like there is much to it, when you are new to it it seems like a lot. This kit does have everything you need, And the instructions are great and easy to follow. They even have a video on YouTube for those who need to see to do. My downside is the airlock came cracked. But I'll find a way to make it work for a few batches. Either way. Im still planning on buying more equipment, mainly the extra fermentation kit and the yeast nutrients.
